I don't mind most not getting contracts as haven't been good enough these last couple of years. It has to get ruthless at some point. Paulo said at forum he'd signed who he wanted already.

But under 200k for a 10+ Goals a year striker is madness. Without a 10+ goal striker you can't make the 6 little own win the thing.

On fox the other night when the Aussies where playing he said he'd been looking for an A League opportunity and ours came up. He may also be looking for a bigger financial backing for himself and the team. Realistically only Arnie, Poppa and Muscat are safe and all three could go overseas.

Alosi will have a job as well just wether at Roar or AU.

So jobs up for grabs Perth (Kenny prob stay but should have done better), AU (Amor sounds gone), City, Jets (surely current bloke hasn't done enough).

So there would be interest with Paulo especially how well we've played in patches with a shit squad. He'd do really well with a big cheque book and all the best youth would be attracted.

Our problem is catch 22 we give everyone opportunity but by the time they prove ready they are off contract and ready to move on.

Paulo extension is a must and show but we and Paulo are committed

As a team we have a week spine.
We lack experience.
We lack X factor - only Fabio has it imo. Not saying we should keep him at any cost, but at least he regularly goes past players, runs at them and is able to keep the ball under pressure. Been far better than Powell was at ten - but we still need better.

Personally I'd leave all our wingers alone. Not unhappy moving forward, with Fab, Trent. Pain and Appia fighting for the wide spots.

Priorities - seasoned and talented CB, DM, CAM, keep Roy or need to add another striker. Unsure re keeper.

So it's all spine for me...

Unsigned players I'd like kept

Izzo - sounds like we offered a contract, but cheap one at that, he left
Galloway- heard nothing but left backs don't come easy
Posco - As backup
Monty - club legend and heart and soul. Very good defensively
Roy - As per Izzo
Bingham - gives us a cheap back up who gives different qualities and can do a job for a couple of games, not sure about a season, we've put a lot into him over last couple years, is to good for the youth teams. Is good in the air, we don't have that.

Judging by the absolute venom from Jets fans to Laurie's mate, you'd say a coaching change is looming there sooner rather than later, they are out for his blood.
Would they want a former fan favorite back? They'd have decent money to spend.

I'm hearing from folk in thew know that Budgie was a stand out number 9 previously. Composed and fast he was described as being very astute on the ball and an excellent striker. Not what I expected but this has come from discussion with ex-Mariners (I won't name) who watched and worked with him and said he's at his best at 9.
Wouldn't mind seeing given a crack if Roy goes

Without meaning to actually discuss any of the credentials of that - because I simply don't really have a clue about it... Imagine for a minute, a front-line of Pain, Budgie and Appiah - if they all managed to get their feet screwed on right ;) - with a decent #10 distributing... That could be quite impressive.
For mine though, the lack of height in the team, for the last many seasons, has been a source of some real frustration... It just feels like such a waste to sit there and watch us give away every ball that is lifted above a meter :( So if Roy wasn't the thing, I still think I might be alright with Bingers leading our line...

If roys going to the Jets he'll be loving that decision after last night's display.
Seriously though the media surrounding his move is only to get more money than what Adelaide or roar have offered

Happy to stand corrected but I don't think Trent has ever played as a 9??
I'm his biggest fan but I simply don't see him as a target man. I think he is a vastly superior player to Appiah but think Appiah good defensive technique has given him the inside running in Paul's mind.
I can only think Brad is your inside man???

From the youth reports last year it sounded like he was playing centrally but I could be wrong.

At A-League level you're probably right due to his height/strength.
Nah not Brad but folk that were with him through his IFS days

He's not a target man, he's a play a through ball and cry as you eat his dust while watching him get a one on one with the keeper man.

He's way to soft gets bumped off the ball way to easy to play in the middle where CB's will cut him in half.

He can't hold the ball up either. His main problem this year was his inability to get past the first defender. Once he can add that to his game then he'll be a starting winger. Combine Fab and his skills and you've got the best winger in the aleague. Unfortunately each lacks what the other has and in fabs case he can't relearn pace.

126 players off contract around the league with run down of each team

Goal Keepers
Eugine Galekovic AU
John Hall AU
Michael Theo Roar
Thomas Sorensen City
Alastair Bray MV
Ben Kennedy Jets
Tomislav Arcaba Jets
Liam Reddy Glory
Glen Moss Nix

Any of those grab anyone's interest, might have missed a few young keepers that I don't know who they are

Also wonder if we would be interested in Shawbow from WSW. Little #10 who has been on WSW roster for at least 1 year and hasn't got a game. Think he is considered a danger man in youth. Might have a better chance here as a back up #10
