ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Watched both Chapman and Cooper at the Jets both been given opportunity and both highly overrated, have since been found out. No thanks give someone else an opportunity.

Realistically we have no one coming through especially in central defence. People who watch the youth team regularly have said our most experienced youth centre back is not ready and may never be. Chapman is an improvement on McGing and possibly Ascroft. We need an additional central defender and Chapman is a rare breed in the A-League he is Australian, experienced and young.

But has been pointed out in other places he is being beaten by a 5-10 game 20yr old.

That said Paul knows him. Think he would be better than Ashcroft and McGing but after limited playing time who knows. 6 month contract would be good to have a look but would he leave for that I doubt it so your looking at a 18 month contract at a minimum.
Just hope we don't over pay but I think our style is you can actually play over money

Paulo would truly know what he is capable of so I doubt we would over pay. The 5-10 game player has been very good for City and don't forget that they have Malik, Rose and Muscat as well. What other options will we have bar signing a NPL player? Chapman offers pedigree and potential I don't think we can go too wrong with him.

Absolutely. And MarinerMick posted on SFCU that the club is negotiating with City to try to get Connor Chapman. Good call I reckon.
i remember chapman in a youth comp . he showed leadership and a
a bit of class . i'd definitely like a look .

Vidosic would definitely fill the hole but he's probably no more than a 60 minute player

I do not agree a matter of opinion I suppose. I have watched all the youth games and even watched them in Canberra after weathering the dismal first team game on the Saturday night. I have been impressed with his composure vision and passing range of the young centre back, I think he has a lot of potential if given an opportunity. The games he played along side Ascroft and Posco I thought he stood out as a better prospect. From what I have been told he has a European passport so would suit the Mariners moneyball mantra.

Well I concede that I am unable to watch the Youth team (I live in Melbourne). But Chapman is a youth international at all levels and someone Paulo picked for his Young Socceroos saying he is overrated is easy but he simply has a large amount of experience in the A-League in which he has more clean sheets than our entire back four combined. Taking a risk on Chapman is hardly a bad thing, at worst we get a player similar to McGing in a position we need.

Tonyink (what ever his name is) has been very good but why has he jumped Chapman? As you say they have plenty of choices.
Worth a go but all our CB's are of a similar standard. Hope he is better but could be just the same. That said he fits the profile of who we are looking for. Be interesting to see if city do release him. We have done them favours with Rose and Fitzy so they owe us. Although actually paying us for Caceras we will always be grateful

Erik Paartulu has been released from his Qatari club. Don't think he would suit us personally, what do you guys think?
I feel he peaked at Brisbane in the Ange era, would be a great partner to Monty but we need a creative type much more. I say we develop Berry and give Rose a long look from youth. There can be only one
