Payouts count against the cap.

I heard something along the lines of the players being released with 50% of the remainder of the contract paid out directly.

So assuming between them they were worth $350k and their contracts expired in May (this is complete guesswork!) we'd pay them out 50% of the value of the remaining 6 months and have $87.5k to offer one or more players for six months *just* to get back to zero.

If we weren't at 85%, then we've got work to do just to get to the floor now because it's at 90%! Maybe we've got a deal worked out somewhere for someone a little pricier...

Before people shit on the Moss 'state league signings' era completely, of our current first team squad Poscoliero, Ferreira and Sim were all Moss signings from the NSW NPL1.

Tricky's a handy player forced to bide his time, Poscoliero has shown his value and before the season's out I'm sure we'll all be glad to have Sim on the books as his versatility may well dig us out of a hole somewhere.

Didn`t Fab come from Adelaide?
I know he played with Dulwich Hill in the Super League NPL2 but wasn`t aware he played in the NPL1.???
Posco was a very good signing & I think Sim re-paid the faith Moss had in him by hitting the equalizer today against Newcastle, he certainly dug us out of a hole!!!

Also, does Monty have a any younger brothers? He has to be one of the best signings ever by our club..

This day just keeps getting better:

THE sense of farce enveloping the Mariners has continued after it emerged that Liam Reddy’s suspension by the club has been struck down by an independent arbiter – but Central Coast has now launched a Fair Work Australia investigation into his behaviour.

Hours after the Mariners asked players to provide phone records over an alleged leaking of tactics, the A-League’s independent arbiter has ruled that the club had acted incorrectly in suspending Reddy for two weeks, citing alleged breaches of his contract.

The arbiter ruled on the case even before a full hearing had been held, after the players’ union launched a complaint in the wake of Reddy’s suspension.

But now his behaviour is being investigated by Fair Work Australia, meaning the goalkeeper has to keep a specified distance from any individuals named in the club’s list of complaints against Reddy.

There is no defined timeframe for that investigation, with the player currently refusing to sign a severance deal with the club as he will not be allowed to register with another team until the transfer window opens in January.

He's currently training with the NYL squad.

They can't deny him access to training, but training should go something like this:

Reddy, "I'm here, ready for training!"

Nash, "OK, see that ball there?"

Reddy, "Yeah"

Nash, "Pick it up, go over there .........
NO! wayyyyy over there.
Kick the ball into the air - then catch it!"

Reddy, "OK, once I've done that what I do then ???"

Nash, "You do it again, & again, & again. When you see the rest of the Youth Squad finish the training session, then you can stop."

"In fact you can stop anytime you like - maybe make a few calls if you like, a few txts ...... maybe even update twitter as to what you're exactly still doing here."

"Or better yet, you COULD just fcukoff"

Yeah, that's probably about right, unless he brings Neil back into the side. We're definitely lean. If Austin's foot is broken... that's terrible news.

Wish we were announcing 3 signings. CB. AM. CF.

I reckon if Sydney FC had a partnership with Manchester United and was offered some 19 year olds this would be waivered before you could blink.

The publicity alone SHOULD be enough, I understand the argument that we should be giving young Aussies a go, but the cold hard truth is that if the talent isn't there, why should we force it?

Well let's hope the club can really see the value in matching Victory on this particular signing as his value to us is a lot higher than to anyone else.

Though that said, being pragmatic, I like Posco and McGing, and if we are about to sign another hopefully decent defender, then maybe it isn't Wilko that we'd need most.

We haven't sighted Tricky in an age, and we have no one challenging Cac, and for mine we could also clearly do with another proven goal scorer in our attacking third - another Ferreira or a Flores or Broiche type player, would be very valuable I think.
