The amount paid to Eddy will count against the cap

Reddy can GTFO for mine. Never been a fan and that dates back to his stomp in the S1 semi at their place.

As Graham richardson wisely said. "If someone rats you once, they will rat you twice"

Payouts count against the cap.

I heard something along the lines of the players being released with 50% of the remainder of the contract paid out directly.

So assuming between them they were worth $350k and their contracts expired in May (this is complete guesswork!) we'd pay them out 50% of the value of the remaining 6 months and have $87.5k to offer one or more players for six months *just* to get back to zero.

If we weren't at 85%, then we've got work to do just to get to the floor now because it's at 90%! Maybe we've got a deal worked out somewhere for someone a little pricier...

Before people shit on the Moss 'state league signings' era completely, of our current first team squad Poscoliero, Ferreira and Sim were all Moss signings from the NSW NPL1.

Tricky's a handy player forced to bide his time, Poscoliero has shown his value and before the season's out I'm sure we'll all be glad to have Sim on the books as his versatility may well dig us out of a hole somewhere.

Hmmm, who knows if there is anything in this or not...I like Tricky and hope not

"Secret Agent: Trifiro denies Mariners injury claims

The Secret Agent can reveal there are more waves at the Central Coast Mariners right now than on all the Central Coast beaches put together.

After my recent exclusives surrounding the Liam Reddy and Eddie Bosnar sagas, I yesterday revealed midfielder Glen Trifiro looks likely to be the shown the door too.
So… check this out:
I understand that on the day our story came to light, Trifiro turned up to training and was promptly told he had been put on the injury list for at least six weeks.
The only issue here is that Trifiro has been carrying a bit of tightness and cramps, but was under the impression that he would be sidelined for a week at most.

So what is going on?

Is it a coincidence that former Melbourne Victory discard Francesco Stella has been training with the Mariners?
Draw your own conclusions.

Is he inferring that this is a way to force a player out? Why wouldn't they just tell him?
He's not implying the advantage of having Trifiro on the injury lists is that we can then sign Stella as an injury replacement is he? Doesn't make sense. If we have plenty of cap, and space in the squad, why would we need to fake a player as being injured long term? Insurance coverage? If he's not in the plans or being selected. That's ok... why does he need to be injured? What am I missing?

Funny though, I was just about to post after reading the team sheets, saying, wtf has he done to his back to now be out for yet another 6 weeks?

This is a strange one. Shaun you said you read everything on here and this is the era of open communication, can you shed any light on this rumour mongering?

...or I guess the other possibility is it's not strange at all. It's as simple as... Mariners player has an injured back. Mariners are trialling Stella. Bullshit rumour mongers doing what they do.

4 goals

In the same game.

I said it before, I'll say it again.

Sim was outstanding in the very last pre-season game, The CCM FansDay 11V11.
He was getting to the by-line cutting back + dribbling into the 18 via it's cnr AND HAVING SHOTS!

I rated Mickey Neil, LB that game a 3/10.
I rated Matt Sim, opposing LB that same game at 8.5/10.

I had NO DOUBT that Sim SHOULD HAVE started our 1st game.

3 games into season M.Neil has proven my rating correct.

Write Sim off at your own peril. I'm glad we've got him as a Squaddie & again have no doubt he'll more than not prove his worth when needed.

Sim was originally brought in as a replacement LB. And while not technically gifted impressed with his grunt and work ethic. Moss, who played everyone out of position, decided he was a winger and started him accordingly. Sim created plenty but also missed absolute sitters and worse still (under orders from moss) stifled many an attack by passing backwards to hutch when under little pressure.
Sim then became the scapegoat for the drivel Moss served up as Football, and became self fulfilling proof that Moss was inept. Every missed goal or poor pass received extra scrutiny that Hutcho etc never received.
I'd definitely pick him before Neill at LB but also I'd never want him to be in my starting 11 without injuries.
He may also be a better option than Storm at RB.

Sim was bought in for cover for the injured Neil and is a better all round player than Neil (at this stage) however has not been able to make the position his own for what ever reason .

In a team now suffering injuries as we have today using Sim.

Posco, McGing, Elder Rose, Sim
Rose Bud, Monty.
Roux Austin
Caseras

I guess:

Izzo
Roux McGing Posco Rose
Monty (DM)
L Rose Cas
Fitzy
Heff Roy

442 Diamond and smash the pricks

If he goes 433, Fitzy and Austin out wide I guess.

I think we are going to absolutely take it to the scum, 100mph, no prisoners.

Sim might come in being ex scum himself - I'm sure not being good enough for them will fire him up.

The last game up there is close to the worst game of football I have ever been to. Dreadful football and the only time I can remember the away support turning on a coach. All round a horrible day out.

Whatever happens, please let it be better than that

While I didn't see that trial game, based on performances last year in real matches against other teams I haven't seen one player that he should replace.

I really don't like bagging any player as they've done the hard work to get to the level they are at, but we simply have players that are better.

He is, in my opinion, one of the worst signings we have ever made. Moss served up an incredible amount of dross, and the fact that he felt Sim was better than some other players showed his merit as a manager.

Could not disagree with you more.

Micky Neill on current form is more of a liability than Sim.
Roux, while a vastly superior player technically, is very lazy defensively and positionally he is woeful.

I have never been a fan of Sim but he more coachable than Neill and Roux, who get so much of the basics wrong.

I take it all back . He's now my favourite player!
