I think that pretty much completes his pillaging exercise doesn't it?
May he fail - miserably...
(Arnie that is - Hopefully JC will go on to bigger and better things :) )

If Mitch continues a continual bench warmer then:-

2018 World Cup Keeper coach with Maty Ryan, Federici and Izzo (through the U23) should show of his talents.

J.C is off to Smurfville....I'm vaguely annoyed, but you can't knock the guy for probably getting a pay rise for doing it.....Nash takes his spot....I did hear rumblings that Crawley and Hutcho don't get on, maybe this helped the jump....but like I said , it's a rumour....anyway thanks for everything John...your still gonna make the CCM HoF for mine

IZZO EXPECTED TO BE MARINERS NEXT SIGNING
Posted by: Samuel Djodan July 7, 2015 in Central Coast Sport Leave a comment
Adelaide United’s Paul Izzo has passed a medical test and is expected to be announced as the Central Coast Mariners new reserve goalkeeper sometime in the coming days.
Izzo is expected to replace Matt Nash as reserve goalkeeper, and act as reserve to regular shot stopper Liam Reddy.
Nash today announced the end of his playing career, moving into the role of goalkeeping coach in place of the Sydney FC-bound John Crawley.

Please no. Re: Brent McGrath.

Not good enough.
We are in a position where we have to pick up diamonds in the rough. I think he could be another that is right age, potential and needs a chance after having some bad luck. Has played for Australia at different age levels including a full cap and also for Brondby. I'd be happy for him to prove himself.

Carle's is not a position we need to fill. Pass.
If cheapish then i would take him. Back up for Caceres or even alongside, has a fair bit too prove. Good, skillful player who has been undervalued at Sydney...we could reignite his passion for the game.
Agree that it's not really a position that we need to fill, but we are short of players with his skill sets and quality. Also, we are recruiting a very young side so some more experience wouldn't go astray. Maybe worth a chance.

Goalkeeper Paul Izzo has decided to end his time with the Adelaide United Football Club.
Izzo, who has signed with another football club, has decided to move on in the hope to secure first team football and has therefore requested that his contract with the Reds be terminated.

Due to Galekovic’s continual outstanding form between the posts, Izzo has found it tough trying to break into the Red’s first team, but he is hopeful a move will bring more game time in the Hyundai A-League.

The young goalkeeper signed with Adelaide United in January 2012 and has since made seven Hyundai A-League appearances for the club to go with his one in the Westfield FFA Cup.

Throughout his Reds tenure, Izzo has also been a regular in Australian squads at Under 20 level.

Izzo, a product of the Campbelltown City Soccer Club was selected to be a part of the AIS program before signing his first professional contract with the Reds.

Speaking before his departure, Paul Izzo was very grateful of what the club has done for him.

“I want to firstly say thank you to the Club for allowing me to pursue this opportunity,” said Izzo.

“It was a tough decision to leave this amazing club and especially the environment within the change rooms, but I know it’s the right one.

“The past three seasons have been amazing and I’ve learnt so much, especially under the guidance of Blaza (Peter Blazincic) and of course working with Euge (Eugene Galekovic).

Adelaide United Head Coach Josep Gombau wished Izzo well in the next stage of his footballing career.

“We wish Izzo good luck in his next chapter,” said Gombau.

“He is a player that brings to us a lot and knowing that he is under Eugene, the best goalkeeper in the league, it is more difficult to secure game time.

"We just want to wish the best of luck to him, but the people need to understand that even though he is from Adelaide, he wants to try and go to another club aiming to have the minutes that he doesn’t have here.”

Goalkeeper Coach, Peter Blazincic who has trained him for the past three years, knew the time was right for Izzo to seek more first team football.

“Coaching Izzo has been good for both of us; having him here and seeing him progress; he has obviously matured a lot,” said Blazincic.

“My job and role in the club is to make A-League keepers and if we can’t accommodate them, then we wish them all the best to achieve that goal of playing in the A-League and going further.

“As with all the keepers that we’ve produced, like Izzo, we hope that someday we can bring them back to our club and represent us.”

The Central Coast Mariners are excited to announce the recruitment of 20-year-old goalkeeper Paul Izzo who will join the Yellow and Navy from Adelaide United on a two-year deal.
Having featured seven times for ‘The Reds’ since joining the South Australian club during the Hyundai A-League 2011/12 season, Izzo will have the opportunity to ply his trade alongside Liam Reddy in the goalkeeping ranks.

Izzo has developed his game under Adelaide stalwart Eugene Galekovic and most recently found himself in the Reds’ starting line up in rounds 13, 14 & 15 of the Hyundai A-League 2014/15 season whilst Galekovic fulfilled his AFC Asian Cup commitments with the Socceroos.

During Adelaide’s maiden FFA Cup crown, Izzo was also a stand out performer in their Round of 16 1-0 win over Wellington Phoenix. Izzo held an invaluable clean sheet to make three crucial saves during the first half and another during stoppage time to keep ‘The Reds’ in contention.

Izzo is a product of the Australian Institute of Sport program and played his junior football with Campbelltown City. Throughout his journey to the Hyundai A-League the South Australian born shot stopper has also featured 12 times for the Young Socceroos.

Izzo is proud to have joined the Mariners who have a strong history of developing quality goalkeepers and admitted that he is really looking forward to working with Liam Reddy.

“Very exciting times for me, it’s going to be a new experience for me,” Izzo said. “My agent gave me a call saying that there was an opportunity to come to the Mariners and seeing the past success they’ve had here with goalkeepers I thought it would be a great opportunity for me to grow as a player and even a person.”

“By watching games last year you can tell he’s [Liam Reddy] a massive character in the group so I’m sure working with him will be a great experience for me.

“I want to train the best I can to give the coach a headache and that can only be a good thing for the team.

“Like many of the young players who have left to play overseas they have made a name for themselves in Australia and that’s my goal,” he said.

Head Coach Tony Walmsley is excited to have reached a deal with Izzo who he believes is a talent that can progress beyond the Hyundai A-League.

“Part of our recruitment process is to identify top Australian talent who have the ability to make a name for themselves in the Hyundai A-League, then succeed in Europe,” Walmsley said.

“Paul fits the profile and is hungry for success. He recently signed a two year deal at Adelaide, but feels ready to challenge himself interstate and Adelaide have supported his desire to join us for pre-season.

“Liam Reddy is coming off an excellent season and Paul is under no illusions as to the scale of his challenge here, but it's a challenge he is prepared to take on and we are delighted to add him to our playing group on a two year deal.”

Izzo will remain on the Central Coast until at least the end of the Hyundai A-League 2016/17 Season and will link up with the Yellow and Navy for pre-season next week.

Good signing. Young talent and will give Liam some competition over the next couple of seasons.

Great signing.

Swapping a 34yo #2 for a 20yo youth international is a great move.

Average age of the squad just dropped a bit too!

Wouldn't touch Carle with a ten foot pole - his glory days are long gone.

Don't know enough about McGrath to make a call.

McGrath seems to be one of those knock about 'strikers' who don't score goals. I think he spent a long time in Europe (Norway?) without cracking it. If he is playing somewhere in Thailand he doesn't seem to be making waves or we might have heard about it. But if he is cheap, and smart enough to grab the life line if offered, then I am happy for Walmsley to see if he can make something of him.
I don't want Carle; he was decent in his day but that day seems long gone. It sounds like the agent pushing his case but who knows...

McGrath is maybe the aerial striker Walmsley was talking about? Hopefully we get the best out of him. It looks like the squad will be full of young, hungry players who have been under the radar for a bit, but have the potential to rise to greater heights. I'm sure Tony wants them superfit, fast, and good on the ball. Should be an interesting season.

So when does izzo take over. 2 yr deal would indicate you want him to be the no1 before then especially as they comment that he has potential to go on to Europe. So looking to sell him to Brugge in the next two years.
Liam has been a good keeper for us but doesn't have any on sell value.

I'd estimate izzo will play the FFA cup and if we don't start the season well could be the no.1 by say round 15.

Tough for reddy he has been good but izzo is the future and meets TW and CCM description of a Mariner.

This is the very model of the 'moneyball' approach.

Take players who are for whatever reason out of demand but have potential. You don't have competition bidding up their price so their value is greater than their price.

McGrath is certainly out of demand - the open question is whether his potential is greater than his price.

He seems to have been trialled by basically everyone in the A-League and no one ever signed him...
I have very, very big doubts about him.
