Rhys Willams wants to come to the A-League surely he would be a great fit for us. Offer him Bosnar's old wage and that wouldsurely be enough to get him here. He's highly injury prone but I think we can manage that.

Too injury prone imo. Let some other team pay him to watch from the stands.

I agree, I just looked through our entire squad, in terms of length of tenure - J.Rose longest, Monty 2nd longest then Neill then Storm I think. The fact that Neill at 21 and Storm at 22 are 3rd and 4th respectivily says alot! They may be the other way around but I seem to remember Pedj playing with Neill.

I dont think so. Pedj went with Arnie didnt he?
Moss gave Neill his first run.
Storm would have played alot more than Mickey Neill.....but regardless its crazy the turnover we have had.

Pedj actually left soon after the GF win in 2013 and pissed Arnold off in the process

Arnold left for Japan in November 2013 and only joined Sydney FC in May 2014 by which time Pedj had been there for a season

Mickey Neil has been with the Mariners since 2012 initially in the NYL squad but then from January 2013 in the senior squad as signed by Arnold.

2 major injuries prevented him from potentially playing more in previous seasons

In our backline, Neil has played 22 games, Storm 61 games, Poscoliero 31 games and Josh Rose 157 games for us

I haven`t enjoyed season 11 at all.
Sure there have been moments when I`ve been happy with the sides performance but overall the "entertaining " side hasn`t delivered the entertainment I was expecting.
Sure the dour negative football of the Moss season has gone but I feel we`re in limbo at the moment .
Stuck between the good & the bad football.
A few more wins & not being anchored to the bottom of the table would surely have helped change the perspective.

Don`t get me wrong, I`ll still be there, cheering them on, with the same expectation of hope & glory.

But as for season 11 ....meh! :vomit:

Roll on season 12!

Has anyone noticed the lack of conditioning of our boys compared to our opponents this season. As the season progressed the fitness gap has widened. We are seriously of steam and we get very sloppy(cards galore) in the 2nd half.

That's because Brice Johnson isn't very good compared to Clarkey

Precseason ^^
+ possession - try chasing a ball all game and see how your fitness goes.
+ positioning - older players know when and where to be and exert energy - makes a big difference.
+ Losing all the time - nothing saps energy quite like getting your ass handed to you.
+ Speed of the game - its a step up for those new to it - which most of our players are.

To hang it all on Brice is just uninformed nonsense.

Trifiro's injury was early in the season too - don't think it's persisting now as far as I've seen? He's not appeared in the N/A section at all in our teamlists as he did in the first half of the campaign.

It may be a good time to approach Matty Simon for next year.
He`s a quality player who`s had his wings clipped by going to SFC & being a benchie.
His price would be way down now just to get some starting time, plus he wouldn`t be travelling all that far for training.
Sticking him up front with Roy would be interesting.

I got a report tonight about a decent CB in the squad at Western Mariners.
Hopefully someone has their eye on him...

Everybody seems to agree that we need 4 or 5 quality players to add to the squad for next year.
For the sake of the debate I will run these up the flag pole (all free at end of 15/16 as far as I know),
1. Gui Finkler - attacking MF, age 30, 19 goals in 79 appearances with MV, dead ball specialist, unlikely to re-sign with MV as he was excluded from the ACL squad.
2. Alberto Aguilar - centre back, age 31, veteran of Spanish second div, 13 appearances with WSW this season, said to be on under $200k.
3. Dylan Murnane - left back, age 21, young Socceroo, 23 appearances with MV, 10 starts this season.
4. Devant Clut - attacking MF, age 20, young Socceroo, signed by Roar in 2014, had a falling out with Aloisi and only made 8 appearances off the bench this season, was linked with the Jets in January transfer window.

Trying to be realistic, don't know much about any o/s targets.

Maybe CCM can start by signing you up as a scout Luca;)

Can't remember seeing Murnane - but think the others would all be great additions. Only question marks are around character and the leadership abilities of Aguilar and Finkler as our young squad will need more than just good footballers to find it's way.

Fahid Ben Khalfallah, 33yo from Melb Victory was left out of the ACL as well & is none too happy about it.

Him & Austin battling for the front left attacking position would really help bring out the best in young Mitch, someone with international experience guiding him in that role, technically much better than Mitch on the ball.

As well as offering great injury cover.
