Mariners Squad - HAL 11 - 2015/2016

Everybody seems to agree that we need 4 or 5 quality players to add to the squad for next year.
For the sake of the debate I will run these up the flag pole (all free at end of 15/16 as far as I know),
1. Gui Finkler - attacking MF, age 30, 19 goals in 79 appearances with MV, dead ball specialist, unlikely to re-sign with MV as he was excluded from the ACL squad.
2. Alberto Aguilar - centre back, age 31, veteran of Spanish second div, 13 appearances with WSW this season, said to be on under $200k.
3. Dylan Murnane - left back, age 21, young Socceroo, 23 appearances with MV, 10 starts this season.
4. Devant Clut - attacking MF, age 20, young Socceroo, signed by Roar in 2014, had a falling out with Aloisi and only made 8 appearances off the bench this season, was linked with the Jets in January transfer window.

Trying to be realistic, don't know much about any o/s targets.
Everyone bar Murnane would be great I think. Murnane gets skinned by anyone with pace and can't pass at all.

Fahid Ben Khalfallah, 33yo from Melb Victory was left out of the ACL as well & is none too happy about it.
Him & Austin battling for the front left attacking position

FBK is awesome, but I think he is contracted to 16/17 and could be cost prohibitive depending on the the other players considered.
Didnt somebody else post that Austin is hesitant about signing again for next season?

Murnane gets skinned by anyone with pace and can't pass at all.
I have noted that he gets targeted by the opposition, in a back line that could include Geria, Delpierre, Ansell, Georgievski, Broxham I would be targeting Murnane as well. He has displaced Scott Galloway in the pecking order this season though.

Only question marks are around character and the leadership abilities of Aguilar and Finkler
Agree.

Why wouldn't Victory include Khalfallah? He's their number two import for mine?

Muscat chose Kosta Barbarouses instead ......... then Kosta shafted him by signing with The Nix for next season at $750k a year as their marqee.

Poor Kevin.

Both Finkler & BFK are pissed at being left out of ACL (Finkler 2nd year in row) & both are rumoured to be looking for the nearest exit sign.

Right thanks, got it - so he chose Berisha, Delpierre and Barbarouses... and left out Khalfallah and Finkler.

Hard call to be fair. Nice problem to have Kevin. o_O

Australians coming off contract OS that we should consider are Chris Herd, Rhys Williams, Brett Holman and Bradden Inman

If Garcia isn't a 'goer' for next season Holman would be ideal replacement at #10 with definite goal scoring abillity.

He's still only 31,
- pulled the pin considerably early on his Socceroos career by many pundits.

At that age, still would have a few more seasons left in him, when you consider the lesser rigours on his body of playing for the petro-dollars - as he has for the last 3 years at both Al Nasr & Emirates since leaving Aston Villa in 2013.

He's a good attacking midfielder, great passer finding holes for strikers and has a good aggressive energy defending from the front ......... something you'll never see from Garcia. ;)

I think that means we're sticking with Izzo unless a deal comes up for him elsewhere.

Is it possible that THB has been signed as a NYL full-timer, leaving a HAL spot open for Bray?

The article says that THB has

so I can't see that being the case.
I'd guess that all 3 are on about the same cash combined as Reddy was on. They are all good prospects....maybe will play HB in the youth for a season or two and then once either Izzo or Bray have moved on we have a natural successor.
