Agree with this, but can ":poo:Arnie's" $$$ steal JC from us?

In my first post, I said that JC was the critical staff member to keep.

Does anyone have any info on Kwasaldinho? Is he running flat out trying to impress at training or still recovering? As he is still on the books for a year and has had almost 2 seasons of rest, he may be the new hungry "goal machine" we're looking for!
Kwassie has been out for 2yrs and will take nearly all next season to regain the level of fitness to play at this level not to mention regaining his touch. Then again if he is fit now why is he not playing either for the academy or one of the NPL teams so he can be match ready on day one?

Michael Beauchamp released by WS. Could be back at the Mariners according to rumours from club.
I'd love Beau back, but think he will be behind Boz and Ando. If he comes then it will be at the expense of Seip or Griff. I'd rather keep Griff as he will be cheaper and is young enough to develop to a decent level. Beau also has great leadership qualities so will be a massive asset behind the scenes as well. As an ex player know the culture of the club and what we are all about.

Yep solid but to slow. Griff can learn but Beau will only get older. After last year would have said yes but the year on the bench hasn't helped him.

Depends on Eddie as well. He was good for a couple of injuries so Beau could get a hand full of games. If could get rid of Seip then he'd be alright.

If Griff goes then prob say yes handy back up

Anyone got any idea on the salary we can offer new players... i.e. are looking for players 50 to 80K or 150 to 250 K players ..

This is already looking like a long off season as the Mariners fossick around the discounted lines and bargain bins :(

Since when was this club about big signings?

I can think of only a few signings in our past that had me excited before they played - Pondeljak, Vidmar, Aloisi and Flores.

Nobody else stood out as a big deal *before* they played - we've signed very few players who were superstars at the time they arrived. They become a big deal here. That's what makes us special.

Kwas and touch in the same sentence equates to an oxymoron.

I normally agree with most things you post but have to wonder if you have been chuffing tonight?

A vastly superior player to Ando at this stage and Griff2 didn't even warrant being resigned. Meggsy is also superior to Siep by a large margin.
Some of you have short memories....last season, Beauchamp and TS were the best defensive pairing in the league.

TBH I would love Meggsy back. Griff2 always looks like being a minute away from a red - whether at HAL or NYL level - so if we don't resign him I wouldn't be upset. Anderson needs someone telling him what to do beside him. He looked good with Patrick and Trent. When they left he tried to be the backline leader and in my mind failed miserably. When he started listening to Seip and Bosnar he improved - but still looks less than assured. If Meggsy is relatively cheap at 33 he could be a good short term pickup and would add an aerial presence at corners that we seriously lack.

If we picked up Tyson and Meggsy I could live with the following at the back

-----------------------Reddy/Tyson
Roux/Morton--Meggsy/Anderson---Bosnar/Seip---Rose/Sim
-----------Caceres/Trifiro-------Monty/Hutch

Meggsy definitely better than Seip and Griffiths. If, the big if, Seip leaves then we have the dollars. There has been no news on Griffiths who would be cheap. If Seip leaves we have the money to sign Meggsy (or McKain) and could still keep Griffiths as no 4 or find a good young player; how's Travis Cooper going in Holland?

And it looks like Vukovic is about to escape from the nightmare in Japan, back to Perth, so lets hope we have McGlinchey back for training in July.

Well if Danny's leaving then surely weemac will be leaving too cos mossey was very specific about the terms of his loan deal

Good sum up of the situation, I reckon.

Also, praise be to God and Allah, may He let McGlinchey return to us.

I was chuffing last night but that was after my post. :) I do rate Meggsy and hope we get him. Beauchamp and TS were great 2 seasons ago but no so good last year together. I like the look of Boz, and he will be a lot better next year with a pre season. Ando is developing into a decent player, is young and needs to play . If we get Beau, which is still only a rumour anyway, then I would prefer to keep Griff . Seip is obviously on a much higher salary and would give us more room in the cap and he also takes up a foreign spot, which is wasted if he is not a regular starter. This is all immaterial anyway as Seip is contracted to us for another season. Unless he gets an offer from somewhere else.

Danny made it sound like he asked.

McGlinchy hasn't so hoping to power on. Could go two ways. With him the only link left to the Arnie Era they may decide to integrate him into the team or now he has lost all aussie support he may join the conga line & come back.
Might also push on for awhile as nothing happening back here as offseason so happy to take his japanese pay chq for another month or two skip preseason & then come back.
