ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Mariners squad HAL 10 ~ 2014/15

Also on topic of sadness re: back up keepers:

Some are sad J.Pas is gone because he was visible, had started games, saved out buts a few times when Maty was off jet setting with those international call ups, and did have a couple of good games despite the massive cock up that was the Jets away that killed his season. Reddy is good but isn't miles and miles ahead of Justin, and having Justin was a good safety blanket in the event Reddy got injured or had poor form, we knew we had a decent back up. Now we have a big ass question mark and will be very unlikely to get a player of Pasfield's quality in.

I wasn't advocating AGAINST Justin, just saying that Roar fans wouldn't know who Acton is.

I, personally, think Pasfield is a good option (39 appearances at Fury!). I suspect he was let go as he is more expensive than a younger bench warmer

"Expensive" is bunk, though, as all wages under the salary cap are paid for the the league (unless it was to free up cap space for a BIG MONEY SIGNING...). It was probably mutual as he wanted a starting job but Reddy had secured it too tightly, perhaps. I'd like to hope...

Don't forget opportunity cost. If you've got a salary cap, every dollar spent on one player is a dollar not available to spend on another.

Consequently, every squad has expensive players, every squad has cheap and versatile filler; most squads have a broadly similar mix of expensive and cheap.

The common constraint means there'll be a broadly common approach, and you'll see all clubs budget similar sums for their #2 keepers.

If someone's asking price for the position they're likely to get is above the broadly budgeted sum, they're expensive, even if the money is coming from the FFA rather than MC's pocket.

Reddy would have had a significant increase when he signed for the next two years: that would come out of the amount allocated to goalkeepers which means that Pasfield became surplus to requirements because he would be too expensive. A cheaper no2 , probably on the money that Reddy was last season, is the likely replacement.

Can't believe we are even debating the keeper situation, with Crawley's record I have absolutely no worries there............our $ need to be spent on striking options.

Agree with this, but can ":poo:Arnie's" $$$ steal JC from us?

In my first post, I said that JC was the critical staff member to keep.

Does anyone have any info on Kwasaldinho? Is he running flat out trying to impress at training or still recovering? As he is still on the books for a year and has had almost 2 seasons of rest, he may be the new hungry "goal machine" we're looking for!

Kwassie loves the club though. I doubt he has the talent (or the knees) to come back and become a sharp-shooter, but it would bring a tear to my eye if it were to happen.

I'd love to have Beau back. Would be a decent signing to have either as a starting CB or backup to Ando and Eddy.

That said, I wouldn't mind if he went to Sky Poos, just to see those Westies chuck a wobbly.

Hmm drive bys releasing Tahj Minniecon, another possible target?
Has some talent but would be more a squaddie for us rather than a starting player. What we need is a quality, proven attacking right sided midfielder. As we only have probably 3 spots to fill I'm sure Mossy will take his time and only sign up someone who can improve to what we already have.
