ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

It wasn't a real opportunity, unless you count real opportunities to lose real money.

Think outside the square dibo. If he's a marquee who's to say that the club has to pay him.
I guarantee that if we treated Cahill like we did Beckham a few years back then funds (& sponsors) would not have been too hard to find.

What off field projects and grassroots stuff did he do while at NY Red Bulls?
What off field projects will he pursue while at Shanghai?

There is no better place where he can make a real difference to football, put back in as he has said, than Australia. Nowhere else is he held in such high regard and there is a ready made project here: Johnny Warren's football mission, which is also every other Aussie football fans mission.
China's government is getting behind football. How does 20,000 football schools sound?

They don't need Cahill and his project.
Australia does.

I really think a "realistic offer" has more zeros.

I don't blame him for making as much coin as possible while his career lasts, but this greater cause talk rings hollow.

New York was always about the world Cup & Asian cup. He said that repeatedly.

Ever heard of the Tim Cahill Academy? Foxtel Allstars?

A-league players are making it into the national team.

Yeah..heard his fees recently went up?

ETA
Fair go to him, the Academy is putting back into the game and the fees are probably just covering costs. No problem.
I just don't buy the story with how he picks his new club.

I saw a tweet from soccer stoppage time saying he was trailing with a U.S. team.

I thought this guy was injured.

The rumoured deal with Everton has been confirmed and they are talking about two U21 players on loan. If Griffiths left and with Michael Neill out for the season then we have two spots available. A CB on loan as injury cover and a striker please.

We're going around in circles a bit, because my response is that we still would struggle to up-scale our commercial services to cope with the vastly greater workload that would follow.

How do we know if we didn't ask?
How do you know we didn't?

By the post above, I'm going to guess any offer we would have made would have been missing at least one digit.

No complaints here. Seems to me we've made some damned good signings over the past couple of months. I gotta say... well done Mossy.
Agree. Lots of good stuff happening off the pitch with the signings, coaching appointments and partnership with Everton. We are still a couple of quality signings short but there is still time in this transfer window or before next season. Hopefully we can start doing something on the pitch now.

Compare the recent progress here with the chaos up the road. I'm glad that we're not leaping to drastic changes, we're just slowly building up a package that will be able to compete for years to come.

Even consider that the club has gone very quiet on the NS stuff - I'm hoping that they're just going to quietly drop it and move on.

Want to play like au why not pick up there old players.
Jerkin is not a bad player but prefer to stick with our young guns. Think we need a proper no10 than a striker. Happy with duke, Simon, major and Bingham

no imo we don't want anyone from the scum
Explain. You don't want them because you don't rate their individual ability or you don't want them because they're ex-Newcastle? If it's the former, then you're a poor judge of talent. If it's the latter, then your willingness to put your bias before the welfare of the club is pretty petty. As far as I'm aware, all bar sack whack have no beef with us. Even then, I would prefer some intelligent debate over the merits of hiring sack whacker than just rule him out completely.

he has barely been there long enough for him to be a scummer and quickly realised he had to get out proving that his going there in the first place was merely a moment of madness

This is the whole "imagining sydmariner has a serious contribution to make" thing.

He doesn't, so we shouldn't.

I'd point and laugh, but it'd only encourage him.

Duke to the J.League?

J.LEAGUE SWITCH ON THE CARDS FOR MARINERS' DUKE

The World Game understands several Shimizu officials, including its sporting director, will depart Japan this evening and attend the Mariners' Round 16 game with Adelaide United in Gosford on Saturday evening.

The striker, who turned 24 a fortnight ago, is understood to have impressed the club's scouts with his eye for goal and physicality, and his adaptability to play anywhere across the forward line.

It's understood that both clubs are close to a formal agreement and Duke could be on his way to Japan as soon as next week.

Duke has scored three goals from 11 starts this season including a brace in the club's recent win over Melbourne City.

There are already firm links between Shimizu and Australian football with current Sydney forward Alex Brosque enjoying a successful stint with the club between 2011-2012 and Shinji Ono moving to the Western Sydney Wanderers from the same side in 2012.
