I haven't. Windust on a Pro is a big vote of confidence and probably justified. It's interesting because we have Paul, Windust and Hall in the mix but just can't help thinking if Brian is out we are vulnerable at the back.

Obviously with no Cummings,Beni and Silvera for this season it may look like we will be blunt in the final third and they( and Moresche) will be missed but I do feel excited about having Kuol,Wenzel-Hall,Tulio,Torres,Wilson,Theohaurus,Smith and Doka available as attacking options.It might take a while for combinations to gel and definitely Nisbet and Balard need to continue last season's great form but I can see a lot of goals in this team.

What the team might miss is Cummings' ability to play between the lines and then pop up in a scoring position.However DWH and Tulio have the ability to perform this role and I am sure Monty and Serge are working on this.

Hopefully Kaltak can avoid injury and tomato slices as he is the linchpin of our defence.Hall,Windust,Paull,Roux and Noah Smith ( if needed) will also be working hard on their defensive formations and should be up to the job.Also Harry Steele improved his defensive capabilities and is excellent off the bench to rest Balard or Nizzy.

I suspect the double shifts and quick backup in trial games has him tight as a nuns c*#t.
More keeping him in our prep as a benefit to us as he’s been training this week as normal

I don’t think we need another CM. CB could be an issue, but only if multiple options prove not up to it. Squad is in good shape imo. Most times I’m seeing a lineup I think there’s at least a couple of players who could be starting instead.

I think this is pretty close to the first XI. I reckon Paull will have first crack at partnering Brian. Doka’s set piece delivery will be a weapon so I think we’ll see less of the short variations.
Wilson, Reec and Hammond as back ups on the wing, smith and storm for the full backs. Steeley, tapp back up CM’s etc

We’re still in a good, exciting place as a squad.

Serious question. Should we lose Niz or Max to an injury for say a month, are we confident in Steele or Tappy (who I have high regard for) who is coming back from long term injury to control our midfield? Is there someone in the squad I’m missing that can fill that role?

Fully agree, we are weakest there. Steele also needed one of Nisbet or Balard next to him to be effective.

Dan Hall can play there but only to hold on to a lead. When we lost to City in Melbourne it was because our central midfield didn't function properly without Nizzy.

I have high faith in both tapp and steeley. Neither of them are similar to niz which is maybe why steeley gets a bad wrap sometimes. Monty loves both of them so I think that says it all really.

If he can do fourteen kilometres in a game. Monty’s whole system relies on mobile, hard working centre midfielders. There would be few centre backs up to the task.
