Yes hes’ Still 20

There is a different vibe, a different work ethic since Staj has been aboard.
They were still training at Pluim today including Gameiro, Oar, Pain, Millar and Aspro. Under Mulvey they would all be on the beach or in the pub.

The kid with the Bandana was trialling. Shabow looked good, is he able to play for Yoof?
He's eligible to play in the NPL because he turns 21 next week, he has not started 10 games in the A League last season and there is only one over age player registered (Charles M'womba). However he has not been registered with the NPL as yet and he is due to take 4 weeks compulsory leave before the end of June. He'll be eligible to play NYL as an overage player next summer if he is still here.

Shabow didnt play much so doesn't really need the hols and he would boss the yoof. We all know how good Nessy is and Shabow looked better today.
On a plus Pearce looked quite switched on and made a couple of good saves. He also is a talker as all good keepers should be.
I didnt see Gauci so hopefully Munford has leapfrogged him.

I get less of an impression that Staj is the yes man politician that Mulvey was. When Mulvey started saying things like "I won't ask for any more money just tell me what I have" I was like... Dude wtf, why would h say that?

Anyway, Staj has been repeatedly

In other Mariners-related news, while Stajcic is overseas scouting for potential visa signings for next season, the

Hairdryer hears that recently-released Newcastle Jets attacker Jair paid a visit this week to the club's training ground. Don't be surprised if the Brazilian signs on in the near future.
...
Central Coast Mariners might have sorted out their coaching future by signing former Matildas boss Alen Stajcic for the next three seasons, but the A-League battlers have a few spotfires to put out when it comes to their current and former coaches.

The Hairdryer understands several coaches from the Mariners' academy are bracing for the sack after being told their positions were being reviewed and have engaged Football Coaches Australia, their union, for advice.

The academy coaches fear their full-time positions will be made redundant and replaced by part-timers, with the program scaled back dramatically and the savings put towards the planned revival of their first team under Stajcic.

Mariners CEO Shaun Mielekamp confirmed the review was taking place but that the changes would amount to "nothing too dramatic". "Where that ends up, I'm not too sure," he told the Hairdryer. "That's just part of the process when you have a new head coach."

Meanwhile, three ex-coaches – Paul Okon, his assistant Ivan Jolic and youth coach Wayne O'Sullivan – are understood to be on the cusp of initiating formal legal proceedings against the Mariners as they pursue some outstanding entitlements.

The trio believe they are owed about $50,000 in annual leave payouts and have tried to chase the money for almost 12 months with no success.

The club insists they were paid out correctly. "At the moment we're speaking to the coaches' union, we've got an independent assessor to come and just review – we believe we got it right, they believe we got it wrong," Mielekamp said.

Jumping ship: Axed Newcastle Jets striker Jair looks set for a move to the Mariners.

From the above article:

Central Coast Mariners fans have heard it all before, but owner Mike Charlesworth has promised to throw the full support of the club behind Alen Stajcic following his appointment as full-time coach.

As foreshadowed a month ago by The Australian, it was announced yesterday that Stajcic has formally been handed the position with a three-year deal after serving as interim coach for the past six weeks.

Now comes a major rebuild of a club that has suffered through some extremely tough times over the past four or five years.

And with that Charlesworth says he and his board are working closely with the new coach to ensure he has the proper resources.

Charlesworth said: “Alen boasts years of success as a coach and, in his short period with us, he has made a very strong and positive impression with his attention to detail, hardworking ethics and his drive to be successful.

“The board is now working with him to ensure he and his staff have access to the resources needed to build a competitive squad for next season and beyond.”

However, Mariners fans could not be blamed for being sceptical about the promises made by Charlesworth, who has come under fire from the club faithful for his failure to properly invest financially into the club.

It is no secret the club does not spend the entire $3.063 million salary cap, and Charlesworth has presided over several cutbacks in other areas of the club.

However, Charlesworth is trying to move the club in the right direction, having brought in two board members in Anton Tagliaferro and Kamran Khan to help ease the pressure on him.

Stajcic is now in Europe on a scouting mission as he looks to bring in some quality visa players, which is an area where the club has fallen down badly in recent times.

While he will be on less money than he was being paid as coach of the Matildas, the job he lost in controversial circumstances in January, Stajcic said he is privileged to have been given his first chance at coaching a senior men’s team.

Stajcic said: “Now that I know that I am going to be here for the next three years we really need to set our mind on building this club back to where it used to be.

“We all know that it’s been a tough few years and nostalgically we look back to the glory days, but we need to reflect on the past few years and think about how we can rebuild.

“For us to become a successful club again we need the support of the whole community and we need to show mental toughness and resilience to once again become the proud symbol of the Central Coast.”

It has been a remarkable turnaround in fortunes for Stajcic, who was at a low point in his life after losing the Matildas job just six months before the World Cup finals over unfounded allegations he oversaw a toxic environment in the Australian squad.

His axing came despite overwhelming support for him from many areas in the game, including from most of players within the Matildas squad.

Stajcic took the reins of the Mariners with six games left in the season, winning twice and impressing with his tactical ability and work ethic.

Jair showed his quality a couple times, I’d probably take him if not much else is possible.
Would prefer Vargas though.

Seriously, if we are targeting Jair for one of our visa spots we will be shit again this season.
Depends if he comes relatively cheap and we spend more on the rest. Agree if we keep Tommy, Weemac and Jem that would only leave us one visa spot? Is a marquee outside of the 5 visa spots?

Even if he comes cheap. We shouldn't be wasting visa spots on cheap players *cough* sam graham *cough*.

Yeah definitely not keen on Jair, he's no better than a moderately experienced Aussie, would only take him on the minimum wage and even then he would have to have the right attitude.

If that's his quality...considering he takes up a visa spot...pass
