Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

Simon starting again. Im thinking he is our main striker.
I wrote a negative post about persisting with him but then thought maybe Staj is playing him at CB again for a laugh. Not many defenders in that list.
Otherwise I don’t know. Surely the club can’t be that dumb after making some other decent looking decisions. Unless Murray isn’t 100%?

To be fair Majok is starting as well - you may be into something.

Yeh Kim is clearly a cut above, good to see.
Simon is such a contrast to our team now, we have a nippy little flick on from Oar, a subtle touch and sprint form Silvera, a gut busting sprint down the line from Majok who cuts it back to Simon for a gangly, slow down and reset.

Has anyone heard anything from DDS? Not hating on him or anything just wondering if anyone know what mind set he is in since he has come back.
I personally would love it if he was understanding about it all and showed us all how great he can be, but yeah..

I’m going to guess he’s not been given or doing any interviews on purpose. He and the club would know there is anger toward him from fans and the best way to get past that is on the pitch. And so far so good imo. He does seem focused on his job and has played well in his first 2 games.

And if it's been about changing his mindset (which seems to have been the issue), keeping him away from distractions such as interviews would probably be for the best.

Man, wouldn't it be a great turnaround story if we're all singing his praises at the end of this season?

Thing is he was angry with the club after sacking Okon who he was thick with. The dust has settled, it's a few coaches on, and Staj has come in and said 'look, I had nothing to do with what went on before but I know what I'm doing, I can develop you better than most, I'm going to do my best to fix things, and I want you to be a part of all of it.' DDS appears to have accepted that, and probably the reality that he has no other choice and can either shoot his career in the foot or make the most of it.
It appears that Staj is the best man manager that we've had since Arnie so that's a good thing. I'm hopeful for DDS. A few good performances and I think we can all move on.

DDS looks fitter and happier than I`ve ever seen him.
I think he has learnt a lot in the past 2 years and hopefully matured as person as well.
He`s also married now,so he has an added responsibilty.
I`m hopeful this will be his breakout season and he gets back to doing what he does best.
In saying that its going to be very difficult for him if we,as fans, can`t put the past behind us and treat him as we treat other Mariners players.

The world is small place.

Was in Sydney today and felt I had a bladder infection and the last time I got a bladder infection I almost died.

So off to Ryde hospital I go. While there i see a young man wearing Mariners tracksuit.

Turns out he is a player in our youth squad.

Anywho I get talking to him and his parents. He tells me the mood in the team is very different and very positive totally different to last year.

Small things in the players hut at the COE play stations and table tennis tables have been set up and other things to do which is bonding both squads.

Last year it was empty.

He said the mood at training has hughly increased and there is a real sense of pride and determination in the squad

I'm informed that DDS's dad is like Jelena Dokic's pa..............a cockhead. DDS is a good kid just led astray by an overzealous parent.

He looked excellent against Maitland. I'm expecting good things for the boy this year.

I agree mate,at this stage he looks well below HAL level but he looks big and strong has decent control and is pretty quick.
With 2 years in NPL and some late substitions in HAL during the back end of the season, I think he could be something.
Especially now we have a decent striker to mentor him...

Probably be excellent in a couple of years time, lets see how he goes in Yoof. Solid unit and looks confident just lacking some polish atm.
