Birighiti is another shit Newcastle scum butterfingered keeper. Justice saying

You all forgot his howler from Boznars 40yard lollipop straight at him.

No thanks he is shit. Couldn’t get a look in at City. Was overseas for a hot minute which i was surprised he even got an offer

Sorry not a fan
Never seen Pearce play?

I think if Birraz is what we can get, then l am content with it. Judging him on an error made 5 years ago is a bit harsh imo. Surely his experiences at Swansea and Breda plus training with Galekovic has made him a much better keeper.
Maybe but I wasn’t impressed with him at Newcastle at all. Not just that howler.
Hasn’t achieved anything since he left. Couldn’t beat out an old Galekavic. When supposed to be in his prime.

Is he better than some of the other options well who knows. Definitely better than what we have.

Time will tell but put me down for an early i told you so or a groveling apology at seasons end

Old Eugene had some pretty good seasons recently and for a while there looked like one of the most in form keepers in the league.

One of the results from the first page or two searching him. Not even his best highlights for the season.

Definitely true but after he left AU and he was looking old there you would hope that Birra in his prime would have pushed him out of the game. Didn’t happen. Eugene is a very good keeper but was starting to make mental mistakes but also had a really good defence in front of him to.

Nothing against Eugene but Birra should of demanded that spot and didn’t. Why?

Think I’ve been a negative nancy enough now I’ll leave it to others to debate.

Maybe he did, people make demands all the time it doesn't mean they'll get what they want. We've got no way of knowing the managers reasoning or what went on.
As for what do I rate him compared to the other keepers - honestly I've got no clue, I'll defer to others that know more than me and are happy with the signing. Perhaps we owe him some game time to make a reasonable assessment. But I'd argue it's not about his standing relative to the other A league starting keepers, its his standing relative to the available options that don't occupy a visa spot and by most accounts he rates very highly in that regard. For me thats a decent bit of business and we move forward with the rebuild. CCM of recent years might have brought in 2 more young keepers and tried to find something that works, it appears we're being smarter now and maybe on the road to recovery.

The only reason why in chuffed about this has that I think he's an improvement on anything we've had in or around the goals since Matty - maybe excepting Izzo's last season.

I don't get how highly rated Birrighitti is, I'm with Big Al on not being all that impressed with him at the Jest, although I actually don't hold that Bosnar goal against him too much - the entirety of the situation is so in the realm of the ridiculous that I'm fine to mark that in the 'shit happens' column.

But I never understood how people were seeing him as a Socceroo... he's a decent A-league level keeper to me, not much more, not much less, but that's still better than what we had, so I'm not complaining.

As for his position at MC... I means this is the team that also insisted on playing Bouzanis over Sørensen even when Bouzanis butterfingered his way through multiple games, so I wouldn't read too much into that... Also hugene was just that, huge, for them.

Edit: breaking up text a bit

Battlestar Galekovic is one who underachieved. Like Theo.
Absolute quality keeper. Add to that keepers age well.
Birighitti is defs not in that class but he should be above BK, Pearce and some other offerings. Consider when GA took Reddy on. FMD did not see his improvement in play coming

Birighitti ticks all the CCM boxes.
Young
Aussie
Potential
He is the type of player we would hope to develop and then sell on in a few years.
He isnt Pearce or Kennedy so its a massive upgrade while we wait for MuNford to develop further (I'd argue he is better than Pearce already)
