ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

What I meant was do we have a contract as "major tennant" which gives us rights ? I dont think we do.

I remember EAS have a deal with the Knights and use that as an excuse whenever the scum want anything done?

We would have to be major tennant. If the NRL was the major tennant then they would not have moved any of the NRL games.

The stadium works around our fixtures to sell other times. We would have to be the major tennant.

"german club energie cottbus have refunded tickets for the 600 fans who travelled 380 miles to watch a 4-0 defeat. It's the teams sixth loss in seven games. "we would like to appologise for the pitiful performance which we displayed at the veltins arena" a club statement read"

Can we have one of these please CCM? How many games since our last win?

Good idea, West Ham have done that a bit in the past, to apologise for crap results, to get the support up north when in relegation battle , FA Cup away replays. They get about 34+ coaches on the go, how many do you think we'd need?

Yeh, lets starve the club of cash in the middle of a global financial crisis; that will help them buy some top quality players for the coming season. It says something about the German club's wealth that they've actually got 600 fans willing to travel 380 miles to an away game; we don't even get that sort of turn out at Newcastle - about 50 miles.

Bex, I understand your point here mate.

Yes, there are vast differences between the German Football scene and ours, and particularly the wealth. One day, maybe, we may see that sort of wealth here, but frankly I think I'll be scattered to the four winds long before that happens.

In the meantime , you are correct in your implied scepticism.

However, there's nothing wrong in the Mariners club trying to be good guys instead of selling off home games by stealth, blaming resurfacing or whatever, on the need to move games or being so f**king compliant with the FFA's grand plans to 'take over the world (well, we will start with Sydney's west first)' plan by offering themselves up as guinea pigs in some marketing research. A little honesty goes a long way in my books.

The German clubs possibly also has an ACTIVE membership, meaning that the club may have to answer to the members at some stage in an AGM or maybe even having a members' delegate on their board. As a result, their board is probably being proactive when results are bad & holding off a bloodbath at the AGM.

In our case, of course, the members are by name only - it's basically a season ticket we have that's glossed up to become a membership.(Could someone remind me  just what the other benefits are of being a member of the Mariners other than the season ticket?  ??? )

What would happen at an AGM held prior to the start of a Bundesliga season if there were rumours and suggestions that home games of a German club were being moved to test the waters of another region? The directors would have a bloody hard time that's for sure, and there'd be calls for those backing such moves to step forward & explain themselves or have the whole board told to vote it down.

Here, of course, we are treated to innuendo, suss excuses about a grass that takes weeks to grow in springtime, the Chairman making statements to a Canberra newspaper being coy about maybe moving a home game or two to their region, and everyone wondering just where the f**k these 'home'/away games are being held and whether we are going to be asked to coin up for those even if we aren't told just yet which stadium it is to be played at. Very unprofessional circumstances.

Maybe Lyall, John McKay and Mack can look at the way the Bundesliga clubs and other established clubs handle themselves in the face of poor results and having to make unpopular decisions and see how the honest approach is probably the better way to go.

Mariners to make a "significant" announcement tomorrow in Canberra.

I guess you guys can put two and two together.

+1 I just hope they are getting well paid for this and some sort of token effort to encourage "members" to be there would be welcome too.

Hang on, we don't want it to look like a roaring success. The smaller the crowd in Canberra the better in som eways

They've already used it. There'll be no surprises here, but they were bastards then and they're bastards now for doing this.

Yeah, I just want to see how they dress it up with the corporate double speak and such - financial issues are semi forgivable, anything else is not.
