ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Mariners Centre of Excellence is GO!

All jokes aside it is fantastic that the Mariners finally have a training base. I have no doubt that the way they moved about the coast last season, including not having goalposts for almost a month, contributed to their poor showing.

Mariners Muck In

The Central Coast Mariners have today swapped football boots and balls for paintbrushes as they went to work on their new players lounge at the teams training base at Tuggerah.

The team has worked together to put their own stamp on the facility, which, together with the teams two training fields, forms part of the first stage of the planned $40-million Mariners at Tuggerah development.

Mariners skipper Alex Wilkinson showed his leadership skills off the field by marshalling his troops around the rollers, paintbrushes and masking tape, and says the club has come a long way in five years.

With us being at our new complex it is great that we have a couple of fields that are our own, and also a place that the boys can come and relax between sessions, said Wilkinson.

The Mariners have become the first Hyundai A-League club to be based at a training ground they have complete, independent access to, and it is hoped once finished, the entire complex which is situated on 12-hectares of land, will become one of the finest jewels in the countrys sporting crown.

Over the last five years we have trained at 15 pitches all over the Coast but now to have the one place where we can leave our stuff on a day to day basis and base ourselves here as a home is huge, Wilkinson said.

And while the work was a fun team bonding exercise, Wilkinson is glad it was a one off.

It is pretty hard work. I think the boys have actually underestimated how much hard work it is but we have nearly got the undercoat on and ready to put the main coat on, Wilkinson said.

Once complete, the complex is expected to form an integral part of Australias bid for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, as it is hoped one of the tournaments 32 competing nations would be based at Tuggerah, should the result of the announcement from FIFA on December 2 proves favourable.

Great news .. but when does the rest of the work start.. i.e. all the buildings

I don't have any special access or anything but have heard from connections that it is still all due to be completed by 2012 (Jan or Dec I wouldn't know).

Thats his point. He does not know when in 2012 it will be finished, just that it is expected in 2012, hecnce could be anywhere over the 12 months

The completion date of 2012, do you know if that includes the upgrading of the fields/amenities that Tuggerah is currently using now?

Good stuff Jools!

$10m should get some progress out of $40m.

Shame she didn't drag Kate Ellis or Kristina Keneally along to offer a measly $150K for the W-League.

Not if we use Julia's contractors, that would just about cover a set of goals and nets.

. shame she didn't drag kate, kristina & the local mps along ... apologise for the oversight and offer much more than the $150k required for the w-league

. surely worth more on a bang for buck basis
