ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

I think the Medical and Dental Centre will be first - it can be justified to the electorate easily as a community resource.

I'm thinking the main playing fields, the expanded club and the accommodation.

I think that money will be coming fron the Mariners Trust. The government money will go more towards things that can be looked at as more of a 'community asset' such as the Medical or Dental Centre.

The other alternative is the Sports Science building with both Deborah O'Neill (member for Robertson) and Clarky involved with the University of Newcastle, the sports science building will probably have links to the Ourimbah campus.

i like the sound of the "Ernie Merrick dental centre" as listening to him in press conferences is like pulling teeth

on a serious note, its great the club is going to get some much needed cash to raise revenue and these community facilities should help us continue on our community building efforts... those facilities are great but surely the players themselves must get some benefits too - i.e hydrotherapy

I'm pretty sure the plans showed the sports science centre and the accommodation in the one building. Also gymnasium and indoor pool.

Can't wait for this to all come to fruition, BUT... call me sceptical if you will, I'll be waiting until the cash is in the bank so to speak. Governments have this knack of renigging on election promises like this, this is a proven fact!!!

Examples: 2nd freeway to Syd.... fast rail &/or freight lines not happening etc etc

Plus, this development already has council approval. Rail lines, freeways and other significant infrastructure effects many people, gets a lot of opposition and it's normal for environmental issues to crop up. Can't see anyone opposing this development except the tennis club and the environmental side of things is not rocket science.

Nothing new but still publicity.

Government Kicks In $18m For Football

EXCLUSIVE: Amid all the doom and gloom the federal government has backed football with $18m of funding on two key infrastructure projects that will directly benefit the A-League and Socceroos.

The government has confirmed an $8m grant to help towards funding of Football NSW's Riverstone project in western Sydney.

The state body believe the Socceroos and A-League teams can benefit from this state of the art training complex, due to be completed in late 2012 to early 2013.

The Riverstone complex is set to have nine purpose built football pitches expanded to potentially 15 in years to come and a boutique stadium for 3000 fans.

Other features include an indoor swimming complex, gym, admin offices, licenced club, hotel accommodation and a private football college.

The funding will come from the government grant and sale of the state body's current base at Valentine Park.

An hour up the F3 freeway and another equally impressive facility has been backed by the federal government.

A $10m grant has been confirmed for Mariners at Tuggerah Centre of Excellence. Two full-size grounds and a 3000 seater grandstand are the main attractions of that project. It will feature all weather sports courts, five a side grounds, pool, gym, and sports-medicine facilities.

Work is expected to commence in early 2011 and is expected to be complete by early 2013 for the Mariners project.

Both the NSW and Mariners projects are absolutely vital for the future of the game as they both provide a revenue stream going forward.

And football owning its own training facilities is sorely lacking right now as we seek to improve professionalism in the sport.

Football NSW Project Manager Duncan Sharpe told au.fourfourtwo.com that by owning such a facility, the commercial benefits flowing back to the game could be significant.

"There is no limit to who will use the new site," he said. "Of course the main focus will be the development of football."

did anyone else notice the advertising board in front of the away bay on friday night saying "mariners centre of excellence now leasing call ....."??? is this indicating the order of completion? money stream first in the way of office space etc then community facilities?

Am I right in saying that the club (Wyong RSL) is leasing the premises back of the Mariners? I think one of the great failings of the A league at present is that not one single club has an alternate revenue stream via a club house. Not that it is the be all and end all but a lack of alternate revenue other than sponsorship and membership is clearly hurting all clubs at present. It sounds to me that the Mariners are the only ones thinking this through. Then again when you look at the AFL and ARL clubs they are still bleeding dry even though they have clubs.

The Wyong RSL holds the licence for the club therefore they have to lease it back from the Mariners. The Mariners do not have their own licence.

I thought Mariners now owned the land, and lease the premisis back to the club?

Scoober i think you will find that banks are pretty tight currently, and alot of developments need to have occupants guarenteed to a rate of about 75% currently to get the finance from banks.

That could be why they are available for lease now?

I am hopeful of a state government grant to also help the centre, especially with an election coming at some stage next year

Why can't the work start now... why in the early part of 2011... All plans etc are suppose to be in and approved just have to tender out the work... what thats going to take 5 or 6 months...

When the constuction company built the Trojans clubhouse at Terrigal they gave the contracts to all the companies that gave a discount off their quotes. That build went along all right so maybe the Mariners should look at the same deal. The figure saved could be between 2 and 4 mill based on the previous deal.
