Yeah lets spend millions of $ on building a stadium, while the club is having financial problems. I hope you guys are not financial planners :piralaugh:

Nikko.. no-one is suggesting it be done now whilst we have financial problems.

The idea is to plan for the future so that our financial problems don`t keep re-occurring.
Whilst not a financial planner I have run my own business for over 20 yrs & have extensive knowledge of junior & senior level football.
That doesn`t make me an expert,it just gives me some insight to what is needed for the financial security of our great club.

I'd love to know the full story. We are getting constant stories/remarks in the press saying we are in dire staits.

On the other hand Peter Turnbull is bullish about another investor, we look likely to go into next year with a squad of 23, with 22 already signed and Arnie is looking OS for the final signing.

TBPH - I will be very happy to see the COE complete - with its 3000 person stand. Let's get there first.

Lets hope they have food and drinks for sale at Youth League games and can actually keep the money and not have to hand any off to the A-leauge! I have to agree, it has been a while coming and I am really looking forward to it happening! I was pretty sure it was supposed to be well under way by now, what is happening?

The CoE was originally touted as a way of making the Mariners financially viable; at the time it was going to be privately funded. The GFC made that funding very difficult to achieve and the project is at least a year behind original forecast. Government involvement, local and federal, may mean some of the perceived profit will be less but at least it is going ahead. I don't know what 'hold' Wyong Council would have over the other stakeholders if they wanted to bail out.
The real positive is that Peter Turnbull is doing everything he can to keep the CoE dream afloat at the same time as managing the financial problems of the Mariners. it's no easy task and we should be grateful to him.

Has anyone heard if

1) there has been any movement at Tuggerah or
2) any luck with the new investors that Peter Turnbull was talking to.

Nikko, some business philosophies actually teach to expand your way out of debt.

Staying at BT does not make sense unless with our crowd averages. Building a new small stadia is a much more viable plan long term, they just have to be able to service the debt. I'd lay good money that this is where their plans lie.

Kinda makes sense ... you can build a 8 to 10 k stadium ... without a rooffor not that much and given we had already planned a 3 k stadium then its may 2.5 the price ...

Then the club gets all the food and drink money for itself ....

A crowd of 7 to 8 K would out of our own ground would make us profitable ... as opposed to slowly goingh broke...

It appears that the small stadium (7-8k) should be the first thing built at the COE site as this will give instant income however I wonder what the pain will be getting away from bluetongue

Marconi stadium is a perfect example of a cheap Football stadium ... holds I think 11K and is essentially a huge Lego set with steal & plastic ...

It comes down to the cost per seat ... a 10, 000 seat stadium with a say $ 400.00 per seat cost is 4,000,000.

Add lighting another 1.5 million and we have a 10 K stadium for under say 8 million... cheap for sure ..

Interest on 8 million is say 800, 000.

Assume an average crowd of 8, 000 with say 15 home games ... or 120, 000 tho the gate and after drinks and ice creams etc say a net of $ 20.00 per head ... thats ... 2, 400, 000 meaning a big profit ...

The trick is getting the stadium built for the 8 million or thereabouts...

Put pressure on FFA to play our afternoon games in Spring ... so as to avoid the summer heat during the day...

Makes heaps of sense to me and I believe could even be partly funded tho season ticket holders...

Say 5, 000 ticket holders each put in $ 50.00 per year for 5 years... thats 250, 000 per year for 5 years or 1.250 m .. not hard to get for your name to go on a stand somewhere ...

would building this small stadium require capital from investors? If so, can you please provide contact to peter.turnbull@mariners.com.au :yellowcard:

Imagine that the stadium will cost money to build ... well blow me down why did I not think of that ...

Thanks for the advice imagine how I tho it would just appear out of no where...

Maybe but it worth considering playing out of a stadium that makes money might get some folk interesting in investing in the club other than investing in a club losing money...

I agree, but with the drawings on display at Tuggerah I`m doubting whether they`ll have the room, bearing in mind that further expansion will be needed in the future.

There is land behind where the Cof E is to be built.

Your logic & way of thinking make sense & having a stadium at Tuggerah would make us money in the long run.

Your welcome. Do you have a couple of mates willing to offer to give the Mariners a couple of million to build this stadium?

Don't forget the ranga gave them 10 mil to develope the site so they should be moving on this a lot more quickly. And before someone says it takes time for approvals etc. wern't they already in place, the costings should have been done already (prior to finalising the design) and the tendering process does not take that long. (interesting I have not seen any tendering info in my field as of yet)
But 10mil earning 6% interest mmm

As if the Government just plonked 10 mill into the Mariners Trust account.

Come on.
