Five or six spots ... my reading of tea leafs would be 3 backs, 2 mids, and one striker.

I'd be happy with that however I love us to keep Gumps for one more season and then keep him on the coaching staff after that.

Ljubo, Costanzo or Todd were available but we didnt/couldnt do the deal.

Loved Ange winding up the Brazillian guy last night, real mongrel CB.
Ange is a quality player, even with his shot knees - his reading of the play is exempliry which makes up for his lack of pace.

Hopefully our pockets are a little deeper next time someone like him is available to us.

Well Lyall did say better than what we have, Ange is arguably only marginally better than Boogs & Wilko and at his age and physical condition maybe better to pass up.

Ange is a vastly superior player to both our boys imho, but he is now getting slow so i'm not sure if he would solve our problems unless we get another pacey centre back to play alongside him.

Boogs has quality but zero pace.  Pedj is decent but need polishing.  Wilko might be OK at RB but is a disaster in the centre.  Porter is not a fullback.  Heff looked terrible this year.  Clarkey is not brilliant but has probably looked the most composed of all our defenders this year.

Whats happening with Rizzo?

Good to see the chairman acknowledge that things are in fact _not_ all good.

If there is any overseas interest in Danny get him on the plane and sign up Bozza.Redmayne and any other young keeper we may sign will learn a shitload off Bozza.I've about as much confidence in Danny these days as I had in Trott.

Please sign A.Tosser for centre back to play alongside Wilko or Boogs (undecided which). But please no Wilko to RB.

It will be an interesting next couple of months hopefully.

Hi Arab,

Why wouldn't you play Wilko at RB?

First season he played there (as he did I think at N.Spirit) and was excellent.  In fact he made 442 team of the year.
He then got the captaincy and was moved to CB and has been shite ever since.

Someone else said this to me (think it was Dibo) in another thread a while back when I made a similar comment.

In V1 I probably spent most of the  year learning who was who so tbh I don't really remember him from then.I also watched Northern Spirit a couple of times out of curiosity and same thing, didn't know many of the players.

What I do remember mainly is Wilko playing RB against the scum at EAS in V2 and getting absolutely skinned.

I agree it's probably a bit harsh to judge him on that one game but I've been terrified of Lawrie putting him there ever since.A wee winger with a bit of pace would leave him (or Boogs for that matter) floundering imo.

Happy to be proved wrong though.

If you can get your hands on a copy of the prelim final from the first season you'll see what an asset he was at right back.

Actually was one game that season I didn't see.

I was on my way to Newcastle to see Billy Connolly. We had the radio on in the car and the only name being mentioned constantly was Vukovik lol.

Reckon Meggie's would come back as a Marquee as one of the buys.
He won't come back before the world cup imo.

Would like to see it though. He was the first player who's name I learned in V1.I looked him up in the programme in the first few minutes of my first game.Stood out as class amongst the average.

I think six new players is a major overhaul... what is good is that issues are being talked about and changes made... if management had said everything is in order then I would be worried and remember its six after signing Huke / so 7 players to go and 7 new players in... as I see it the figures speak for themselves ..as well as the change in policy towards imports ...

If Kaws & Rizo are new then that could mean 9 players .. unless Huke / Kwas & Rizzo are in the six changes.. meaning 3 new players.

However 6 new players in a squad of 23 is a major overhaul as I see it and thank god they have done it as Hal 5 was looking like being a hard year.

Our chariman saying we're looking at 6 new players and signing 6 new players are two different things.

I'm glad that the initiative for change is there, but I'll be relieved when I actually see it happen.

On another note, did anyone get to see how those two New Caledonian youngsters went on their trials?

Rizzo is not staying. Kwas swaps for sash. Huke for jedi. Still leaves Osman, nash and owens, plus any of the boys off contract we dont keep.

We dont need to ditch danny off overseas. We have a free keeper spot, as well as a free marquee spot. Bozza could step, and could have at any time last season if the club was serious.

The club should definately bring bozza back. Give him 1 year, he will do awesome and kick danny into shape. If he plays great and stays uninjured he may get more years. If he gets injured at least he can push danny to develope, rather than regress as a keeper.

I want to see a review of the coaching staff not just the players. If Laurie is saying the right things to the players but the message isn't getting through then perhaps the message is getting stale and perhaps its time for him to move to another role in the club. I question what contribution Tobin is making given that our defence remains so poor; you would imagine with a record 87 caps for the Socceroos as a defender he would have some knowledge to impart yet the defending is brainless. And I really want to know what credentials, apart from being a good bloke, Damien Brown brings to the youth team. I want to see a defender coach, a finishing coach and a sports psychologist added to the staff.
