ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

What should be the criteria for inclusion?
Has the club been going long enough? I'm of the opinion not. Maybe another 10 years.
I'm of the opinion that a person's contribution to the Mariner image should be a major factor. The ones I would choose looking at their contribution to the image would be Hutch, Wilko, Patrick & Maty, with maybe Andrew Clark.

I agree that the club has not been around long enough for a hall of fame yet.
One criteria imo should be - retired from all football activity.

Clarky was a shit Footballer. Top bloke but that shouldn't get you included. Wilko was line ball.
Hutcho...great servant. Maty and Patrick were superb and deservedly club legends on talent and impact.

Point noted about the timing of the HoF. For those that think the HoF can wait, then perhaps consider this to be a thought exercise. "If" a HoF was to be created, who would you moninate?

Recky... I completely forgot about Crawley. We have been blessed with some stellar goal keepers over the years. Crawley would have played no small part in this. His contribution to our success over the last 10 years has been enormous. Well worth the nomination. The others??? Questionable ;)

Lawrie would have to be there (I know, I left him out of my earlier posting in error). Hutch also has to be there, he scraps like a drover's dog; we've never had the overall class to play pretty, our success has come when the whole team digs in and fights hard, like Hutch.

I think Clarky should be there - not as a player as much as Strength and Conditioning Legend, during his reign his ability to keep our top side on the pitch was a significant advantage over all other clubs, I saw the stat's once but every other club had a much higher turnover in their starting 11 and significantly higher level of soft tissue injuries than we experienced.
He even was able to keep a geriatric like McBreen on the park and a much more effective goal scorer by modfiying his training regime. That combined with his playing and the fact he is a top bloke and a local gets him over the line for me !

3. Alex Wilkinson
4. Patrick Zwaanswijk
5. Joshua Rose
6 . Mile Jedinak
7. Mile Sterjovski
8. John Hutchinson
9. Damian Mori
10. Tom Pondeljak
11. Michael McGlinchey

12. (Sub GK) Maty Ryan (gk)
13. (Sub) Trent Sainsbury
14. (Sub) Andre Gumprecht

On the basis that I'd like the best players balanced by the best contributors/cool heads. Shirt numbers were as assigned by the club for the required formation.

Doesn't say much about our strikers over the years if Mori, who played 11 games, makes the team of the decade. Quite farcical if you ask me.

. you're right it doesn't ... but mori was bloody effective as a striker for us

. striker was one position I really struggled with ... because in the chosen 4-2-3-1 format we don't have a standout striker (many of our notable strikers wouldn't have played in that formation and some would have been less effective)

. during discussions I brought up Mori whenever anybody mentioned effectiveness (people were voting for aloisi for example) ... but for me I couldn't vote for him because he didn't play enough games for us (coincidently aloisi falls into the same category). For a team of the decade I felt more than half a seasons worth of games was required to be seriously considered (so mrdja would be out too ;))

Strikers? Don't forget Daniel McBreen won the Golden Boot playing for us.
Might be worth a place in the HoF or Team of the Decade just for that.

I agree - if you are picking them on games played for us, rather that on how good a player they were in their careers! To each their own.

I also agree that class strikers have been our biggest hole.
