ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Hall of Fame

I agree with AM. IMO a hall of fame inductee needs to be someone who has proven to bleed yellow. Only one person comes close and at this point and even then wouldn't be guaranteed. Lets make inductees really strive for this. Gumps, Mile, Glinch, Ryan and Wilko should all be commended for their service, however as history has shown have jumped at the opportunity to further careers/earn better coin elsewhere. Although they may have an affection for the club, their pursuit of other glories rules them out of legendary status here (at least until they decide to return). 10yrs service to the club is a minimum.

Gumps was desperate to stay but was forced out by the administration.

Given we are a in a league where players move on to higher leagues .... and that our league is less than 10 years old .... we need some rules that relate to our position ... should we rule out Musty and Rogic they both choose us as there team that could develop them...

I guess I thinking where someone said lets think of who we don't want or the things they do we don't like...

So here are my suggestions for ... if a player does this then they do not make it...

Shown to have taken drugs.
To be abusive to fans and fellow players.
Slag off the club, coach or officials.
Out on the town drunk and in a fight say akin to RL players..
No one who transfers to another A-League club... say Pedj... Danny ...

What I want ...

If not transferred overseas at least five years service....
If an overseas transfer they have gone on to bigger and better things... Jedi .. Matty Ryan
Have been good with community duties
Within reason have set a good example to players and the public in general...

My four nominees ...

1 Clarky ... good clubman bled yellow... went on to uni and became Australian best trainer and has moved on OS...
2 Peter Turnball ... gave his all for our club and developed Gorman's vision of the COE .... he somehow held us together and not go the way of Fury & the GC...
3 Jedi ... played one and a half seasons but was the most influential player in regards our results we have ever had... and has gone on to much greater achievements overseas and still keeps in touch..
4 Hutch ... I cannot think of anyone who better represents the spirit of the club ... not our greatest player HHHMMMM not even close to our best player but his work in the community and in leading the team is important.

Could be's in the future ... Matty Ryan, Musty and Tommy Rogic .... depending on how their careers go .... they all choose to start on the CC...

Special mentions to Tommy P and Grumps but don't see em in the HOF...

Middy- I`m not a fan of Danny Vukovic but in all fairness he did transfer O/S with the club`s blessing but that fell through a short time later & there was no room for him to come back.

Idiot.

Did you follow the Mariners in the 1st two seasons?

Gumps was our best player by a mile and if you went to any of the games you would know he was the crowd favourite as well.
I did follow the Mariners in the first two years, and I'll agree that he was our best player *if* you ignore Beauchamp in year one, Heff in year one, Hutcho until he did his knee in Sydney in year one, Petrie in year one, Pondeljak in either year, Vukovic in either year...

He was popular, but that can't be enough.

Heff....wtf....although my daughter did like his haircut.
Petrie and beauchamp did well.....would have loved to have got Petrie 6 or 7 years younger.
Hutcho year 1 was his one and only good year.
Tommy was very good but not quite there for mine and not regarded at all by Victory fans when he went there.
Danny....cult hero but Ryan was a far better keeper.

Lol. Nice view from that high horse?
You just bagged everyone who uses the forum, what did you expect?

I did not bag everyone who uses this forum, only a majority. And did not insult any individual member by name.

I suggest calling someone a prick is insulting in the extreme and if done by anyone but a mod would result in a suspension.

Resorting to this form of personal insult should not be tolerated on the forum.

I said you were being a condescending prick, and you still are.

Plus you clearly have no idea what you are talking about. You can bang on about issues with the club that you have no idea about all you like, but you are now into territory I know very well.
Bagging the majority of the (people who use the) forum, telling me what our policies are, you are wrong and I suggest we leave it at this and move on.

Back on topic, it's a great idea.

Only had a quick look so far and found this http://www.sahof.org.au/hall-of-fame/nomination-information/criteria-for-members/

One of the things that jumped out was

Nominees shall not be considered until after a two year waiting period following:
  • retirement from the highest level of competition;
  • the performance of a particularly outstanding athletic achievement that warrants special recognition

I think that would put quite a few out of contention, for the moment at least, which is a good thing IMO as it's not something that should be chucked around lightly.

Can't wait for (more) heated discussions around nominations :D

Gumps for me was an awesome and exciting off the bench impact player. he could turn around a game with his enthusiasm and gusto

I understand that's what happened ... however within what I see as rules we would establish he left for overseas ... and returned to another A-League club he did not better himself ... tho right now I would welcome him back ...

  • retirement from the highest level of competition;

This would obviously be senior international representation, but would friendlies be included?

Leaving that aside, and ignoring the short termers, like Aloisi Mori and Bozza, The list would be extremely short.

Jedi, Matty S., Matty R., Tommy P., Tommy R., Nick Mrdja, Hutch, Fergie.

Any others?
