Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Sydney has upped their offer for Arnie to 380K.

At least we know he hasn't signed yet.
No way I will have to shorten the odds for Sydney now!
3-1 Sydney
3-1 Asia except Australia
5-1 Western Sydney
7-1 The Mariners
10-1 Wont coach
11-1 Brisbane Roar
25-1 The Long Jetty Laserbeams

That doesn't look like a lot for a professional football club.

What is the reason for Sydney favouritism?

They have upped an offer that is still more than 20% less than they paid this year for one of the two most successful coaches of the last two years. Arnie was pissed off at his and Ange's pay in relation to foreign coaches - will that attract him? Their board is notorious for their interference. What is the attraction - apart from an offer has been made?

If money and challenge is the object then Asia would be the raging favourite and that is where I expect him to be if goes anywhere. If he wants to stay around Sydney then Western Sydney is also in the mix.

I'm just saying it looks like we have pretty much minimum (probably less than minimum) staff to run a professional football club. How do you cut that back even further?

I don't get the point. Would you fire them?

Make them more accountable at least.

Their crowds were not that much more bigger than ours, they scraped through into the finals and their customer reach is virtually non-existant.

I can also guarantee that their wages are far superior to Mariners' staff who bust their arses for wages around $40000 a year.

And some are owed money, super and have not had a pay rise in 5 years!

Sorry Mick, I was referring back to the suggestions Nathan posted about staff restructuring, Mariners staff list, and then the staff at other clubs... not sure what the idea was there, to make staff cuts (at CCM) or ..??

Sydney definitely have lots of 'splainin' to do...

Seems to me the wisest but not necessarily most likely option for Arnie, should the Russians come through particularly, would be to stay at the Mariners for another year or 2, keep impressing and then make a big move overseas to more money and challenge. at this point if he goes to Syd or the like and takes several years before impressing he's set back as many years as it takes and could miss the boat.

hehe, had to chuckle a few times catching up on this thread

The Russian investor does not live in Sydney he has only been to Australia once.If
the deal happens you watch this club turn around for the better,This guy is a mover and shaker.
