ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Mate at those odds I suggest you never get into the bookmaking industry!

I'll have:

$1,000.00 on Sydney @ 2/1 (return $3,000)
$750.00 on Asia/Japan @ 3/1 (return $3,000)
$375.00 on CCM @ 7/1 (return $3,000)

Total Investment: $2,125.00

Total Return: $3,000.00 (either bet pays)

Total Profit: $875

ROI: 41.18%

I do not drink that.
2-1 Sydney FC, 5-1 Japan, 7-1 CCM.
The Accountant should have the ability, as in the qualifications to ADVISE, they are called business advisors, Fortunity say's that they operate in that capacity on their website! If I was being paid by the Mariners to perform in this capacity I would certainly advise that they a) pay their freaken taxes and b)pay their freaken super.I would also have the Trust agreements and ownership models structured in a way that enhanced the Mariners value upon sale or enquiry of ownership. At the moment the best way to describe it is a shambles. IT IS THE STUMBLING BLOCK FOR MANY!
I would also eleviate tax and super issues through a restructure of the paid employees. I woul doutsource marketing and promotions. All that without even seeing the P and L. And ask the question how does the Central Coast Mariners operate? What are the key drivers? What can enhance the business? What is restricting the business?

This sounds like a job for Allan Mason from Broadview Accounting

Somebody needs to buy GA a drink, or three. Everyone gets pissed off at work when things don't work out but a few schooners, or whatever, can put a better spin on life and with the hangover comes the realisation that you are actually happy in the work you do (quote" I look forward to coming to work every day...). A quiet bar in Korea with Hutch, McBreen and Patrick should do the trick (most of the others are too young to drink).

Are you referring to this?

Clive Palmer‏@CliveFPalmer
Adelaide United denied Football Australia sponsorship in AFC Champions League. This is a case of 3rd party contract interference by FFA
Not really, but http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/sport/soccer/clive-palmer-says-gold-coast-united-a-league-licence-revoked/story-e6frectc-1226285185356

The Adelaide now is reporting players are free to leave, wages will be slashed etc.

I'll go back to my original comment about all the accountant can do is say "make more money". That was a bit of an exaggeration but basically all the accountant can do is make generalised suggestions, as you have done above, rather than specifics on HOW to make those things happen.

a. pay their freaken taxes
b. pay their freaken super

(edit: Seems like obvious things, don't they? A bit like when David Koch comes on TV and tells people that to save money they should shop around for the best deal. Duh?)

It has been widely reported there are cash flow issues at the Mariners.
There is only so much money that can go around, so they have to prioritise the expenses until the cash flow situation is sorted.

Where does the money come from to pay these things?

The COE is still a fair way off making any money, and even then it won't happen overnight. They are actively looking for investors, and in the meantime they have had to sell players to cover bills in the short term.

What else should they do?

eleviate tax and super issues through a restructure of the paid employees

As was mentioned further back in this thread (I think... it was somewhere on the forum anyway) the biggest bills here are from the playing group and coaches. You can't outsource those. How many other staff are employed by CCM? How much do they get paid? Realistically, how much of a difference will this one make?

outsource marketing and promotions

WHAT marketing and promotions!!?? As above; do they even have anyone employed full time on marketing and promotions? Are they getting paid? How much would that save?

How does the Central Coast Mariners operate?
What are the key drivers?
What can enhance the business?
What is restricting the business?

Ooh... something I can get behind!

Plenty of issues have been raised and suggestions made in this thread just over a year ago.

Some of these issues have been addressed somewhat, with the Facebook and Twitter pages, but they aren't enough.

IMO these are things we should concentrate on rather than things like taxes/super/firing the boss/firing the accountant/other things we can't really influence.

That doesn't look like a lot for a professional football club.
