You can still foul a player without your hands. Soft maybe, but contact was from behind and Duric should not have executed it.

Anywhere else on the pitch it’s not a free kick in a million years so why once it’s in the box does the rules change.....it doesn’t it’s just dickhead refs don’t have a clue.

Not since McKinna have I seen the scouting for young players so good.... give us a decent striker and we will be very competitive.... notable tonight was our fitness the last 20 minutes of each half and the last 15 minutes of extra time we got on top ...

That was awesome. Good gritty cup win.

Plenty of improvement left in the side, little concerned with our attack, possession and field position, but impressed with how organised they were at the back considering the injuries in our back line. Very happy about the general level of fitness. Easily the fittest side we've had since Arnie left.

Matty played a great game for us but should have buried that header late in the 2nd half.
Birra had one fumble early and was excellent after that. Two pens saves, one against the snake winning us a cup tie away against our bogey team. Mariners legend in the making imo.
Oar was my MOM, ran his ass off.
Silvera was fantastic off the bench until McGing's tackle seemed to mess with his concentration/decision making a bit thereafter. But he's a great player. Terrific recruiting by Staj.
Kim looked a little slow, but he was good on the ball, and his cover for other players and tactical discipline was excellent.
Thought DeSilva worked hard, looks fit, but was off his game tonight both in decision making and execution.
Duric is talented but was still a little a off the pace. Few more weeks will do him wonders I'm sure.
Muzz wasn't convincing. Majok's cameo even less so. I want that visa striker.
Clisby was hit and miss.
Everyone else was generally solid.

Great team bonding win. Excellent job by Staj and staff.

Stoked for everyone on here and all CCM fans.

Birra was huge in the shoot out
What a way to endure yourself to us fans.
They’ll fine tune the playing out consistency once the back 4 is settled. Because it was brilliant in small patches before it basically went to shit as they tired.
That midfield will only get better. And was more good than bad.
Kim tired badly 2nd half so wasn’t as good
Duric the same, but I’m impressed with his level of ability with the ball.
I thought Stensness was good with settling play down with short simple passes, better than say Melling would’ve in that role
And Melling was used perfectly, a burst of energy in defence and was solid. I don’t think he lost the ball?!?!
It was easily Tommy’s best game in our shirt. Had he scored that rocket, geeze.
And you know what, Mattys overall touch was fantastic! perfectly shown in teeing up silvera. I was very worried about that against aleague opp and he put that to bed for now.

First hit out I've seen of the boys and it leaves me very hopeful for the season. Player who impressed the most was Silvera. DDS looked quality too. Only player who I thought was ordinary was Majok.
Over all thought they played well in a game the ebbed and flowed for each side. Glad to see Bira show his quality against arguably the best keeper in the league.

This is a good summary of about what I wanted to say.
Also - it was good to see McGing help us to a win tonight...by playing for the opposition.

Hard to tell for me how much of that is fitness, or how much of it is we managed to click a bit better.
IMO it looked like it was a case of Brisbane tiring and giving us that little bit of space we needed to get ourselves back in the game. Not to take anything away from our fitness because we hung in there long enough to get our chances but there's not many teams that can play the kind of game Brisbane were playing for 90 minutes never mind 120. It's the first time we've been pressed that hard over a long period so even if we hadn't won it still would have been a valuable preseason test and I think we'll be better for it..

And in all honesty we should expect to beat Hume and be in the semi’s.
Few more weeks of gelling for the new boys and we should be much stronger and a little more complete -touch wood-

Ultimately - I don't think we were the better team early on. Roar pressed and passed better and were clearly stronger. For most of the game I expected to lose.
I was very happy with what I saw from Oar, and felt we were better with Silvera on - he's going to be a revelation this season for sure.
Oar and Silvera were awesome for that 2nd goal. And credit where credit's due - Matty was responsible for or instrumental in both goals.

I liked what I saw from DDS but his decision making needs to improve which I'm sure will with tailored coaching. Like for many others Stensness surprised and pleased. Fox was more solid than I'd expected too. Majok was underwhelming. Very happy to have Ziggy on board.

The point I'd really like to make is this. Roar are in form, fit, strong, play a game that crushes midfields - and we took the lead twice, held out for 120mins and battled uncompromisingly to a win. We now also get to keep the competitive preseason with something to play for going for longer which is a massive boost.
I'm really happy with the mentality. Last years side would have collapsed. But against a stronger opposition we battled and refused to give in. This is a huge and incredibly important step. We can also all see that the skill is there and that there is bucketloads of room for improvement in playing as a unit to come. If we continue to grow as a playing unit, combined with the mentality - it could be a much happier season for all involved.

Forgot to give an honourable mention to Birra - very happy to have a competent keeper again. He can clearly shot stop and was confident enough to sweep which helps a lot. He probably came out more than he needed to last night but assume he'll find the balance over coming games.

Won us the game in the end too. Thanks!

I'd love to watch a replay, because wasn't the ball falling to Simon's feet? Should be a red if so, given it's a holding foul.

I'm probably a bit late, but I agree.

Rowles got sent off for a similar infringement last season against Wellington Phoenix.
Why?
Because he technically made no attempt at the ball. Just the player.

No consistency.
Which still manages to shock me.
