ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

I here what their saying . I would agree that the club doesn't run a board like this ,but if they slipped adz a few bucks to run an
"independent " board that's not a bad thing.

it's hard enough keeping lunatics like styles , atomic and BK ,in line.
with only myself and wombat providing any sanity. as you know middy
I`ll take that as a "tongue in cheek" compliment...

In all honesty, I don't think it's a very good idea for any club to get officially involved in a fans forum.

Look at the drivel posted/spammed/trolled on the clubs Facebook posts as an example.

I'm not sure they would want to facilitate some of the posts on here either. Those who remember the vitriol in season 4 know what I mean.

I think it would be good for the club to post here. As contributors not mods or hosts.

Just my 2 bobs worth.

I'd agree with that. let fans be fans and say dumb stuff and make idiots of themselves, don't do it on an official forum run by the club. Leave that for Facebook.

whitch player's will be there

. dunno ... i don't think it has been announced (they are all still on holidays)

. but if if you want to use last year's forum as a guide: arnie, hutch and patrick - they would need to be confident and capable public speakers

According to the club's Twitter, the beach football tournament is set down for 7 & 8 December - presumably tying in with the Round 9 home game against SFC...

I plead guilty to raising the boring website issue at the forum.

Don't get me wrong, some of the existing site is excellent, eg. the humorous player video interviews and the factual information. But in my opinion the style is dull for catching the youth market (although I'm no expert, being a fossil). You only have to look at youth oriented online sites to see what kids want these days.

As I said at the forum, in my day it was Shoot magazine. It's glossy format and up tempo articles still exists today. So they must be doing something right. Here is a free copy: http://pedigree.ceros.com/shootmagazine/shootjune2013/page/1

If the Club wants engagement, they need fans to know about the players and officials to the point that they are part of the family and community. Someone said that 'The Code' series was an example of that. Exactly! Shoot does that well too, with well researched articles about players and football in general. 4-4-2 is also a good example. They don't have to be academic articles, just light-hearted will do.

A very simple example would be an article on the player's recommendations for the best coffee shop on the coast, or best restaurant, or best beach. Instant engagement with the community.

Of course I acknowledge that 'sexing up' the online presence is a costly exercise in time and money. But adding some style to the site should not be too big an ask.

I don't think a rumour page is a particularly good idea though. I assume that was a tongue-in-cheek suggestion. Leave that for 4-4-2. Same for fans forum - certainly let people know where to go, but leave it at that.

On the rest of the forum, didn't I hear that while the Centre of Excellence building will continue, all of the football related aspects have been completed?

In terms of engagement with the community, there was a lot of talk about pairing players with local football teams. But what about pairing with Surf Life Saving Clubs too? Particularly Nippers. Perfect for the coast.

I like this one.....the A-League is a summer comp and surf lifesaving/nippers a summer sporting activity. we have some fantastic surf lifesaving competitors on the coast and I reckon the local media would love this. Being very involved with surf clubs when my kids were younger, perhaps I'm just biased....but I would see this as a win/win for both the Mariners and Surf Lifesaving Central Coast.

. i think it might be a bit early to pair the players up with the local SLSC ... they are starting with the local football clubs - the words from the floor: 'this is the low-hanging fruit'

. i think this is a great idea but to do it properly will take time (from the players) which they are unaccustomed too. if you overburden them, both efforts may become ineffective. another problem would be that the boys will probably be busy on summer weekends ;)

. i understand that the club will once again be supporting SLS as one of their major 'charity' partners ... so they are building a relationship ... and this should present more promo opportunities

Sounds like a job for 'club ambassador' Adriano Pellegrino :innocent:

. just thought i would add a few other things from the night that i noted down ... i will try to avoid duplicating what has been discussed above (but forgive me if i do)

. the night had a bit more structure to it than last year - which is to be expected

. as advertised the panel consisted of gallop, de bohun, charlesworth & turnbull with lawrie as mc. there were other representatives from the club and ffa there as well. numbers were up on last year too (at my estimation)

. the discussion was broken up into 4 parts:
  1. growth of the a-league and the mariners
  2. central coast market - challenges & opportunities
  3. mariners commitment to the community
  4. memberships - key to the success of the club and competition
. i won't try and keep things to these 'headings' as they are all kinda related ... but a few other things i noted were
. regarding building on the momentum (hal & mariners):
  • minimum member target of 5000 up from about 3600 last season
  • we had the 6th largest crowd numbers last season
  • 16 million watched the game against guangzhou
  • 7 from the recent socceroos squad were from the a-league (14 have played the hal at some stage)
  • hope to build on the world cup hype for the league
  • mariners on-field success needs to be replicated in off-field support
. teams and resources:
  • will remain at 10 teams for a few years yet
  • stability and avoiding any unnecessary drain on resources
  • ffa looking to assist with sponsorship for all teams participating in the acl
. most of the community engagement initiatives have been discussed, but will add:
  • 8x higher avidity level than sfc (this is the per capita passion we always carry on about) ... it was good to hear the club acknowledge this - but they would like to know how they can further capitalise on this local parochialism (and are trying as discussed above)
  • they are pursuing a greater level of integration across all levels of football
  • sounds like patrick is going to be a very busy boy - i wonder if he knows what he has signed up for
  • talk of the 'mariners way' becoming a footballing philosophy across all the levels (i'm sure fozzie still won't approve)
  • mentions of the beach football competition, wheel chair football and partnering with the football school at mount penang
. regarding us 'exporting' all our talent ... gallop suggested it was something to be celebrated and extremely proud of. he offered adam scott as an example - when he won the masters ... people weren't saying: 'i wish he had stayed to play all his golf in australia' - interesting way to look at it as a sporting administrator
. more stuff:
  • gosford council looking to get more involved with 'game day' activities trying to draw people in ... the nye concept
  • mariners mates to be sponsored by ccf for next year
  • the club's preference is for saturday night games for crowd numbers - but this must be balanced with the requirements of the league, sponsors and other teams
  • they want to build on the atmosphere which has been growing recently
  • the league has the 16th highest average attendances in the world
. this post is getting a bit silly so i will add more later to make it a little more digestible

Interesting thing on trying to get management rights to the stadium - Mick noted a less than supportive tweet from a councillor's (personal) account:

@Gabbadabadooo: @ateamfootball @CCMariners concerned about that there seems to b enough trouble just managing the club #MarinersFanForum

Dopey thing to say - could give the impression she's not exactly coming to the question with an open mind.

Weird coming from Lawrie's running mate too, though she gives off the impression of being a huge fan of the club, and Lawrie, but not so much of the Club management.
