ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Wilson actually had a few really good moments. It's consistency that's the problem at the moment, sticking passes and whatnot. Get that consistency in and I see why we signed him. I'm prepared to be patient but completely agree it should be Theo starting - who has earned his chance - and Wilson off the bench to take some pressure off and build that consistency.

But that inconsistency is true of the majority of our player to some degree at the moment including from Tulio, Torres et al. It's a matter of getting to know each other as a team, knowing where players will be, what runs they like to make, what passes they are likely to try.

I'd love to say it's only one game and that with 2 injuries, a reshuffle and a red card that there's not enough game time to call inconsistency in passes etc. but it was the same pattern in the AFC Cup games. Still think it's short term only.

We played positively. Every time the option was play back sideways, out or in, it was nearly always forwards and usually a confident ball in. There is talent and speed in the players and when the flow kicks in we'll be slick. This will be a scoring team.

After Brian went off we had 4 of last years Grand Final starting 11 on the field. Danny (a good game), Max and Nizz (both played well - especially Nizz) and Marco.

We had a young completely new backline (average age less than 21) made up of 3 left-side players and Doka and it showed. Faz at 20 until his cards had stepped up and was leading the backline. at the other end Tulio was basically playing with strangers.

The team needs time. Jacko needs time. There were many mistakes made - but there is also plenty to like in the abilities this squad has, if not the performance that was shown last night in the face of a couple of early injuries.

He did but let’s remember who put this team together too. Some of the players copping the most flak are Monty’s recruits.
I had a similar thought today. All the rough diamonds that the Monty /Serg duo were so good at unearthing, recruiting and polishing to finesse, many of whom looked garbage in the beginning. We started the exact same way last year and it took time. We were shitting ourselves. (Some more composed than others ?) Just hoping Jacko sees what they were seeing and has that same ability to transform, otherwise a team of eclectic, neglected and potentially broken characters brought in, has the potential for a very scary season.

No panic yet!!! Time will tell..

In the presser I liked how MJ said he wanted to teach Torres more than just cutting back in. That’s a good sign and that he has a plan to improve all the players in the squad. Making the right noises but we have been there before but I’m definitely giving him plenty of time before judging.
