Tell you what, take a proposal to the Marinators and offer to pay for all the associated cost (or do a whip around of like minded souls for tifo) and I'm sure you'll get support for it.

But judging from what I've seen on this forum, the day you nominate as the day for coughing up the money and actually doing some work on the displays, will be the day that suddenly 6 or so of those who said they'd help you, suddenly find they have more pressing things to do.

TBF to the Cove, they have always had the size of their group as an advantage over most other supporters groups, both here and internationally.
I've only seen Urawa Red Diamonds supporters put them to shame at the SFS. No one else has either bothered or been successful.

When I get back from my holiday I will be asking people to help me make something that the marinators will be proud of.
Can I add you to that list of people Clarence?

tifo store??

lol
Not in Sweden anymore unfortunately.
Damn.

But anyway.. when you get back chuck us a PM- very keen to get involved.

First half was disappointing. We turned over posession far too easily and many times under little or no pressure.

I thought the second half was quite good. Little Mc became very involved making the difference with the link from midfield to attack. I really believe the guy can become an extremely good player in this league. I thought we were the better better side overall and we'll only get better.

For mine, Wilko MOM. Outstanding and is back to his former glory. Fair bit of aggression as well. The thing I really like about him is almost always stays on his feet in the tackle and reminds me a lot of Tobin. Clean tackler which is the mark of a very good defender. He has the potential to be a great defender but needs to take the step up. A good season here and he'll get picked up overseas which will have him in the shop window for the NT.

I'd be far more worried if I was a choppers supporter. Their so called Euoropean style of play is absolute nonsense and myth. They are route one. Given Sydney are the largest market in Australia for football they continue to let the league down. They should be averaging 25K plus with an entertaining style of play. They are a joke and I for one are sick of their claims for the being the biggest club when they continue to underachieve by every measure of a big club.

:goodpost:

Very well put. I too was amazed when they started pumping one long ball after another right from the kickoff. I was thinking: "How dare they accuse us of Route 1 football".

Clarence  ... you posted back on page 7 that Travis is a defensive mid ... 2 things everything I have read says he is an attacking mid ... so I am confused ... but be that as it may ...2  Huke is also a defensive mid & IMO the best in the club...

so we have 4 defensive mid's in Huke, Pedj, Hutch & Travis...

I guess this means we could drop Huke back to a back four spot with Doig ...Wilko as RB ..

But just on Travis I am sure I have read he is an attacking mid ...

Stay the f**k out of things that don't concern you and enjoy your holiday.

If you read the posts, you'd notice I was criticising a SYDNEY tifo. I thought it look amateurish compared to what I've seen in Europe myself and what's on You Tube.

That led to one of our tifosi suggesting that at least that WAS a tifo. Well boo f**king who.

I was actually sticking up for those running the Marinators (Club), and those who have tried in the past to get things up that haven't quite happened, or been left to do things by themselves.

If you suggest there's more folks keen to volunteer their time and maybe even some money, other than the usual suspects that seem to do most things, then fine, I'll stand corrected.

I never once said I would be in a position, or wanted to be, one who did all this. I am quite content to sit in the stands and watch the match. So no, do not add me to any list, other than the one that says that I won't get involved in any banner making, tifo cutting etc. etc. projects.

To me, time is money, and the time I have off is even more valuable. During the week I have little time for anything else other than my business & on the weekends I am usually sucking up to my missus for the time I have neglected her. I also, funnily enough, prefer to spend time with her.......

Sorry, sorry. I had Travis mixed up with Huke. I stand corrected. My mistake.

I hadn't taken my medication when I typed that.

My comments about Travis not getting a run though still have some validity.

I'm guessing he'd fill a role similar to McGlinchey, or out on the right wing.

People are kidding themselves if they think that wasnt a boring, mistake riddled game of football by both teams. I've seen better football played in park lands. It had me seriously questioning why I'd bother to part again with good money to watch that type of rubish.

The worst game i have ever seen in my life was the FA Cup Final a couple of years ago between Man U and Chelsea; you can't expect every week to have the best football; if you are a true supporter you take the dross with the good because it is the game that gets the bubbles rising in your blood not one particular performance; My neighbour, who I persuaded to come to the ACL games (no worse trio of games has ever been perpetrated at the BlueTongue) has now become a Mariners member and has really enjoyed both home games, he loves the atmosphere, the sense of enjoyment and the excitement on the park; he couldn't give a toss about the so called quality, he just loves football.

Fantastic post.

I love the world game and will quite happily watch two kids verse their dog... so parting with less than a 20 to go into BT looking so prime and beautiful, to yell and cheer with my father and my son for the Mariners is one of the things I now enjoy most in life. Win, lose, draw, disappointing runs, bah! You have to be philisophical as a football supporter or you'll turn into a bitter know all prick in no time from what I've seen. For mine, I love everything from the pre match feeds with family and friends, pulling the colours from the cupboard, walking down the streets crowded in team colours, the buzz of the crowd... I'm even getting a taste for the dodgey burritos ;D But I also truly revel in the knowledge that when I walk into our stadium I know that I am supporting not only my club, but my region, the A league and the growth of football in Australia.

I really do still see this as a "great privilege" because I still regularly think on how lucky we were to get a franchise up here and sometimes just imagine what it would be like as football lover on the coast if CC Mariners never existed over these last five years?? What a massive impact on our lives and such an inspiration to our kids and community. If we play a stunning game of football of course I love it, but it's just a bonus. There's so much more to supporting football than just what happens quality wise on the park for me, that I find it quite a sad idea to only be able to find any enjoyment if my team are managing to carve it up. If thats all that interests spend your twenty on Setanta, plenty of quality around... but cannot even remotely compare in terms of an overall experience and the joy of having a local pro club that you love and get to regularly go and see...

Something that Craig Foster cannot understand... and something I hope most Mariners fans will never lose sight of...

Doesn't matter what we play in the end...
Just as long as we play...
I'm mariners till I die.

The Marinators do concern me so I will speak freely when and how I want about them.

I know you were talking about Sydney and their efforts and I'm sure you know about the population differences, heritage etc between Australia and the European countries.

Personally I don't believe that Sydneys Tifo was a fail, They have previously used that card tifo before more succesfully than shown on the weekend.
Please see here.
http://z6.invisionfree.com/UltrasTifosi/index.php?showtopic=2562

If you were sticking up for those people left to do things by themselves sometimes,  then you were sticking up for me and a few other people I know, which is a lot nicer then telling me to stay the f**k out of things.

I am suggesting that there are more people out there with valuable time and money that they usually spend doing other things willing to help me, so you will unfortunately have to stand corrected on that point.

When we do a tifo in the future we will try our hardest to do it "properly" just for you.  :)

I will put you on my list of people to not contact in the future.

I prefer spending time with my girl friend, lukily she enjoys banner making with me.

Thanks for your concern, Have a nice day.  :)

Been a while since have posted, but still a member, still attend all games. wasnt really gong to bother posting, but sort of felt obliged.

As far as supporters groups go I truly believe the marinators have taken a step backwards, signs and tiffos are one thing, but they will never make up for pure, organized noise. (ie singing).

I am not having a go at anyone in the marinators, hell you do alot more than the majority of supporters. But again, fully outdone by the cove. (and yes I know they are bigger, but thats half my point)

I think moving the bay has had a huge impact, all the part timers everyone whinged about, helped to boost the numbers visually, and also the noise. I understand the reason for the move, and fair call, but now you really need to be organisied and active and loud or it is really going to show...

Like I said, not aving a go at you guys, at least your doing something, and your passion is clear. Just a caring observation is all. Seriously, channel all your efforts into supporter numbers, songs and noise. The rest will take care of itself. Alot of the supporters around you (in other bays) are waiting to follow your call....

kidding right?

Van Dijk's penalty against Melbourne last week WAS a good penalty, THATS how you take them, not the way Kwas did in the 91st minute of a 0-0 game :headbutt:

Kwas took them in V2 scoring 4, then of course Aloisi took over in V3 (who remembers his miss), and then Jedi in V4.

I have made banners before (two in the past 3 years). I don't chat to anybody during the match, I'd rather be singing whatever song comes up or (in more recent weeks) starting chants and hoping for our sake that the people chatting realise why Bay 23 exists and join in. I have drawn up a design for a supporters' shirt/ banner that I've shown Pokey and would be happy to show on here if anyone's interested.

In short, Jimmy (or anyone else) I'd love to help (financially/ time/ man power etc.) creating tifo banners or whatever else, just send me a PM. I am sick of seeing the Marinators advance at a glacial pace while other groups (namely that Scum up the freeway) have improved out of sight since 2006. The rate we've been going at this past year or so, it won't be long before the Gold Coast and even the Fury fans overtake us. It really says alot that our away support is better than our home support...

Hey Uncleyellow. Not having a dig at you at all, just using your post to prove a point.

This saying comes to find....

"You can lead a camel to water, but you cant make it drink"

Pretty much sums up mine and others efforts to get the bay singing as one imo
