Complete Rubbish.

Humiliated and 8.2 could have been the scoreline.  Zero movement and very little effort overall.

Is we don't bring in some players in the summer we will DEFINATELY get the wooden spoon next season.

Ratings:

Danny 6.
Porter..3....clueless tonight
Boogs..4...treacle toes again
Wilko....3...crude hacker...like a carthorse
Huke...4...very poor but why was he at left back
Caceras..5...pretty insipid
Hutcho....2 absolutely dreadful...so far out of his depth it wasn't funny
Osman....4  gutless and lazy
Heff..2......woeful..looked like a All Age 3 player...(sorry to any AA3's)
D-mac...6...average
Mrdja....6....average

Subs:

Kwas 6...not too bad
Gumps 6...the only player I saw give and go in a yellow shirt all night
Elrich 5..didn't do much

F**k me. If I wanted to see shit like that I would have stayed at home, eaten an extra hot curry and then washed it down with a 6 pack of Elephant Beer! I can't believe the Mariners can still technically make it to the elimination rounds. How do you come back from shit like that?  ???

It's saying a lot when you can honestly say the fans did a better job than the team they were cheering, but that was certainly the case tonight. And even then the Kawasaki fans made us look average more than once. F**K! Thank God I scored a free ticket to this one!

Still have not won a game since last year, at all. I wouldn't be surprised if the attendance for the home game against Tianjin is just our Bay 16 regulars and their travelling supporters!

I dont think it worthwhile to comment on individual performances. We are a very poor football team that is playing well below its "best".

We havent taken this comp seriously, we havent invested and we are paying for it. Without serious reinforcements, I hope there is at least 1 side worse than us next season or the spoon wont have too far to travel.

Kwas was really the only one who looked like he could give a flying and I am not sure Danny can be blamed for the dross in front of him.

Yes, they are a better side than us but IMHO that is the worst 90 mins I have ever seen from CCM.

I hope they felt sick when they saw the number of people who stayed behind to clap them off.

so after Pohang and Tianjin who had officially declared, now we have three teams in this group not taking this tournament seriously?

Wow is all I have to say

On the positives - well we witnessed a very good Football team tonight - it just wasn't ours.

I don't agree with some of the player ratings above I think Porter was better than Boogs. Boogs was a waste of a spot. Everytime he got it he hoofed it up field. Our distribution was woeful... Compare it to the only time I can remember Kawasaki hoofed it up field and his team mates ripped into him....

No way Mrdja was a 6 - he was useless

Only positives for us - Elrich was running and he stepped it up, as did Kwas...

The fact is we stand still - they had guys running all night and it was a lesson for all football fans - the movement and runs were something we will not see at Bluetongue again for some time - wish we would and wish it were us but it ain't gonna happen.

ONLY other POSITIVE - THE FLARE.....

Downward momentum is a really hideous thing, especially if (and looks like in this case when) players and coaches have no idea how to turn it around.

i am sick of seeing that bloody long ball. how many times do we have to just hit up to all the forward, with players sitting in a happy straight line, hoping for a knock down. sat up in a box tonight, i never wanted to believe it, but we really have nothing more than a silly kick up the field. i dream of the day mediocrity is not accepted at this club. unfortunately now i get the feeling that it is acceptable.a day when we are pace setters, not just battling above our weight. these players are better than this, and something needs to be done to bring it out of them.

so wombat - good enough to bitch and moan about the side but not good enough to actually lay down a few dollars and support the team live?

FFS - i've *just got home* from the match, the last thing i want to see is some clueless self-appointed expert to sit and apply half-witted analysis to a match they couldn't be arsed leaving the house to see. wanker.

it was a horrible game to watch, the only good part of the night for me was swapping my scarf for a kawasaki one and then me and trev posing with an old japanese man for a photo, don't really think anone had a good game, subs were maybe a bit better then the starters but not by much.
I did like to watch the kawasaki players and was enjoying watching some of the players outclass ours

I've sat through some hidings in the NRL, but never felt this way after a game. I think I speak for a few of us here when I say I left almost feeling insulted. The boys might as well have run out of the tunnel at the start of the match, unfurled a giant banner saying 'F**K YOU ALL' and held it up at us.

This was a big game for us, against one of the best teams in the ACL, at home, coming off a strong showing against Tianjin and apart from a flurry of near goals in the opening minutes, the rest was a disgrace for anyone who supports this team and spends time/ money following them. I feel like the guy who saves up to take his family out to one of the most posh restaurants in town, gets everyone dressed up and looking slick only to have his eldest son sit down at the dining table, look at the menu and say "What the f**K is this shit?" then proceed to puke all over the head waiters' shoes while in clear view of every other diner in the place. F**K me...  :soapbox:

bad points - covered already, but simply put in four years i've never seen us so comprehensively outclassed, so completely without a gameplan to speak of and so wilfully stupid both with the ball and in defence.

to say it was embarassing is to be very very kind. given the context, a national disgrace is not putting too fine a point on it. we were league champions just 12 short months ago. look at us now.

good points -

crowd was actually decent sized.

the last half hour where we (i.e. the bay) basically took the piss and tried to have a laugh or two (it was probably either that or sob quietly...) was pretty fun, but maybe i'm just comparing it to the disappointment of imagining we might compete tonight and meeting five sharp whacks of reality.

flare was good too - we were mariners in distress, and obviously in need of rescue. should have had one about 20 minutes in TBF.

i drove more than four hours for the 'pleasure' of seeing that match, and it was with some satisfaction i cast my mind back to the last time we got our arses handed to us like that. it was the 5-1 night against sydney in 05. i had to get the train back to the city straight after the game (sydney to the gong in the morning) and of course was on a train loaded with smurfs.

let's just say i copped a bit (as did blackadder i know, and i'm sure chris and big dave would have done too), and among the jeering and goading was the chorus of 'you won't be yellow tomorrow!' rings a bit hollow now.

i'm still yellow, i'll be yellow tomorrow, and the next day. mariners til i die.

Words escape me for tonight, but this clip kinda sums up how I feel. Dibo, you'll have to excuse me but I didn't attend - haven't been able to get to ACL matches.
Do not feel justified to say too much as I watched this at home on TV and I'm sure I missed some off the ball strategies or were we truly that/ [this vvvv] awful?

that is a really good way to sum it up, i had hopes in the first 5 minutes but then kawasaki started to play. Still can't think of a better way to describe it then that post

Yeah I gave away my Mariners ACL 09 scarf for a Kawasaki one as well.

I dont know what was worse, ourselves disgracing Australian domestic football out on the pitch, or my futile attempt at conversing with the Kawasaki fans with the little Japanese i have picked up in my Japanese 101 uni elective.

Clearly we are in desperate need of some new recruits. Preferably some with pace, flair, the ability to put away easy chances, the ability to defend, or the ability to pass a ball with accuracy. Not too much to ask.
