heres hoping D-Mac will find the form that we know is lurking somewhere inside.
Here's hoping we sign someone else (from serbia maybe) who can knock em in! I have zero confidence in D-Mac and judging by his form last year we best hope Matty is not too far away

D-Macs skill on the ball up front is good, he is not a blazing striker such as Mrjda but we dont need him to be. I think Dibo makes a good point in noticing the change in midfield passing play. If D-Mac was supplied with inteligent ball to feet, then the players next to and behind him will score a bag full.

As a season ticket holder at Northampton here in sunny (well weve had 2 days of sun) England, I was disappointed to see Doig leave but not surprised as he was injured alot last season. If you get him fit he will be a great signing for you.

Good to see him team up again with Pedjy.Pedj was a bit of a hero over here, not the best player but never stopped running about (not always in the right direction) and his kangaroo celebrations gave us a laugh.

Good luck for your next season, think there will be a few Cobblers fans who will start looking out for your results.

cheers bootandshoe.

we're hoping doig turns out to be a success too. as you can probably see, people are generally pretty pleased he's here, not least because cobblers fans rate him.

pedj has done ok over here so far, if he and doig work well together then all the better - our defence has been nothing short of awful at crucial times lately.

we've also signed a bloke who was on the books of peterborough (but loaned out a lot) for 4 years, that could be interesting. ;D

good luck to town for the coming season!

Centre Back is the most crucial signing for us; I'm a little worried about Doig's history of injuries but if he stays healthy I am looking for good defending and leadership. If the defence is right then the rest will follow, we have many capable players who lost their way last year with confidence very low - in particular Caceres and McAllister. If the defence is strong then that confidence could easily return and we can do ok.

Looks like Ibrahimovic taught Hutch a thing or two last night (see photo below, Hutch is #5), hopefully he brings back something.
knew it was hutch cause he was on his arse. Hope he learns from playing against such strong opposition

Agree, we looked great wehn caceras was in form because of the way him and macca played off each other with the ball on the groud. But both fell away as the season went on. Though dmac did not score many goals, his control and passing are still way above most of the squad.

On another note, does anyone have news on how Simon is recovering?

He is four weeks away. That is straight from the horses mouth.

Clearly wasn't an ACL then. What actually happened there?

Everyone thought it was ACL because it was a very rare injury that looks similar to ACL. Don't know the specifics but it was a better outcome in terms of recovery.

Fo sho, everyone can thank their lucky stars, especially Matt! If he has another great season it's good for the club and with our national striking stocks the way they are then he'd have to be a chance to be an inclusion for the World Cup. Might be able to get him OS afterwards for a bit of wedge.

Glory get their roo hero marquee

PERTH Glory have sealed the deal to bring Mile Sterjovski to Members Equity Stadium as their marquee and will unveil him in Sydney tomorrow.

The press conference in the city's Hilton Hotel will end months of speculation and negotiation to bring the Socceroo hero - who scored aganst Bahrain last night - back to Australia.

Sterj, 30, has been released by Derby County after a disastrous season with the Championship side which saw him barely get any gametime for the club, threatening his spot in the Socceroos side and a place at the World Cup.

He has previously played in France, Switzerland and Turkey before the ill-fated move to England.

Now though he will be aiming to rebuild his career at Perth with coach Dave Mitchell's revitalised side. Glory have already signed current Socceroo Jacob Burns, while former Derby defender Andy Todd has also joined the club.

Perth are also interested in Socceroo defender Chris Coyne, who is keen to join his brother Jamie at the club.

Sterj's signing is a landmark deal for the A-League, ranking alongside Jason Culina's return from Europe to join Gold Coast United and a yardstick of Glory's renewed ambition for next season.

Full details of the deal are expected to be revealed at the 9.15am unveiling tomorrow.

Who can be our marquee now? Carney anyone? or maybe one of the Serbs who are trialling with us if they're good enough

Is Sterj, good player that he is, going to add bums on seats or generate publicity?

not enough to cover the reported salary IMHO

Agree - part of forking out any money for a marquee must mean bums on seats..... and plenty of them.... not something Sterj would do here

The other part is being an awesome player, and adding to the team. Which he will easily do. Worth 2 dwights for me
