Very happy, finally a true prick to give some people a good kicking, I'm seeing some sore Brazilian players after taking him on.

Doig is probably a really nice guy, you know.  ;) Just loves to play his Football & maybe we are jumping the gun a bit about this 'hard c**t' routine.

He seems to have the experience we are currently lacking at the back and he's been a captain in League 1 so he's obviously got leadership skills too.

The fact he hasn't started games only when he's been injured means the club would have played him more if they could have, so that does imply consistency with his form.

The warmer weather & the number of games in our season will help him, I guess, if he has niggles with injuries.

.. so that is Huke, Travis, now Doig, pus two or three more ...
are we bound by the 3+1 rule?
if so, hopefully the club are looking to bring in some asians
why does it matter whether we get any asians? Right player for the right job regardless of nationality

yes i whole heartedly agree (dont pigeon-hole me as a racist from one comment that you've taken the wrong way)
i'd just hate to sign a bunch from overseas and only be able to run three of them at any time

+1

OK, this point is debatable, but maybe an advantage of having an Asian is to get an insight into their culture (handy for playing in the ACL) and also may attract interest/sponsorship form that part of the world (if the right player was choosen).

Thoughts??

Isn't it 4 imports, 3+1 is only for the ACL I believe. definitely right player for the job.

So, two import positions to go with Doig signed and Travis close to signing.

Assuming Rostyn Griffiths will be signed as he will not be an import.

So, that leaves the four other imports trialling for two positions.. The two Serbs have impressed, especially the striker, but one of these two have be a creative centre mid.

The Italian boy is this but from all accounts a wee bit slow, while the the Serb is less creative but more dynamic.

Interesting stuff.

Definitley not racisit, easy to see what you are saying. If we were bound by the 3 + 1 rule then common sense would say that an asian player would be high on the agenda

Is pace a deal breaker in that position though. I think a more important question is what is his shot and set piece like?

certainly not a deal breaker but too slow is a problem in the up-tempo a-league

don't know about freekicks

The A-League rule for the coming season is 5 imports in the squad, but I'm not sure as to how many you can have on the field at any given time.

I get the feeling that LM is looking at playing Huke in defence.

I thought he played pretty well in that DM role in China....I think it was...the 2-2 draw?

I reckon he'd be alright in the Jedi role.

Dylan.........<add a CM>............Huke...............Doig...........Danny

Thats a v strong spine, now add some wingers (Elrich will do for 1) and a couple of speedy fullbacks (Heff + a n other) and you have room for another striker and...............

A luxury creative AM (like tp see Porter given a go in his natural position too, I dont think we have ever played him in the Tommy role?)

Any good side starts with a strong spine

I suspect if 5 imports is the rule then we will start with a squad of 22 and at most 4 imports. Then if the money frees up and we need to bolster the squad we have the opportunity to look overseas.

And perhaps with that spine and a toughend up defence in front of him we'll begin to see the "pre 5-4 send off " Danny.
