so of those, you would only keep redmayne and o'grady. oh dear

#2) Andre Gumprecht - cant deny he lifts the team + crowd off the bench
#3) Paul O'Grady - rubbish, league has moved past him
#9) Nik Mrdja - still has a lot to offer
#12) Greg Owens - unless he can get back to his past best
#15) Andrew Clark - to valuable to the club to let go + great squad player
#30) Andrew Redmayne - awesome in a few years

Agree Give Gumps another 12 months

After we failed to sign Sash we must keep Nik....

Owens - hmmmm See what happens in ACL otherwise off you go...

Jesus
I talked to nik post qld match, and he was confident he would be playing for us next season.
Hopefully lawrie comes to his senses and keeps gumps another year. I am still to see an adequate replacement to his at least squad role. I am very much in favour of consistant 1 more year chants through the ACL.

Clarke has enough still to stay on. Especially since for football purposes you would think his wage wouldnt be too high, but would be topped up with coaching wages.

Ogrady is quality in the air, but he just is not good with the ball at his feet. We can surely find a cb somewhere who is quality in the air, and hads either a right of left foot, which would rule him obselete.

I tend to agree with what you are saying there, Jesus.

Nik has to stay injury free, and show some real passion to stay in the good books I reckon.

He has had a lot of layoff time due to injury, and he OWES the club a heap for their patience. Least he could do is sign a hassle free contract with them rather than haggle for more.

With Matty and D-Mac, and now Rizzo, it will be interesting to see the combinations of these strikers on the field.

I would like to see Clarky as a squaddie for this ACL, but after that, maybe head to the backroom. His spot was taken by Porter this year.

O'Grady has some aerial qualities but alas, the A-League appears to have passed him by.
He has himself to blame for that, as he had an opportunity in the previous season to shine, but his injuries from the car accident made him start later than the other players.
A lack of gametime has led to him trying to impress when given the chance, and sometimes that comes across with too much aggression or a rusty tackling technique. I find it irony that his best games were the last two (trying for a contract?) - and wished he could have pulled out all stops last season instead of this one!

WHAT is up with Owens? He's a heap slower, very gingerly going into challenges, looks all the world like he is carrying an injury or psychologically can't shake the reticence when moving around. Does he need a shrink or more treatment? Or is he just chronically injured to the point he is gone. Frankly. I'd risk using Elrich ahead of Owens in an ACL match, Elrich might not have the wind to play a full game but he'd take a greater grasp of a game playing a classier opposition than Owens, and Owens just doesn't go flat out anymore. Can see #12 being available next season for a new player.

Gumps. See how he goes for the ACL. Am hoping that LM will use him for the last 20 of matches to spark up the midfield attack a bit. But he is found wanting in defence, so he'd be on after a defensive replacement (to freshen up the defence).

note: we didnt fail to sign him, we chose not to meet his demands

Depends on your point of View - is the glass half full or half empty......

Fact is we failed to sign him on our terms....and yes we chose not to meet his demands - both points are valid...

How about some more rumours:

Ahn linked to MLS, A-League

Former South Korean international Ahn Jung-hwan plans to wrap up his storied career abroad.

``It appears to be tough to find a new team in the K-League, so we have given up staying in the local league,'' Ahn's agent Choi Wol-gyu said.

``If he pulls off a new deal to play in an international league, he will end his career there after a one-year stint or two.

``We have been in negotiations with teams from Major League Soccer (MLS) and Australia's A-League. It is too early to jump to a conclusion. They have been favorable to him.''

Ahn has been rumored to be in talks with several MLS teams, but no team has come close so far.

The 33-year-old striker made his K-League debut with Busan Daewoo, a forerunner of Busan I'Park, in 1998 and won the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award the next year.

In 2000, he was transferred to AC Perugia, but was shown the door after his extra-time golden goal in a quarter-final match against Italy at the 2002 World Cup.

After the release, Ahn played in the Japanese, French and German leagues for five years.

Highly-hyped Ahn returned to the domestic league with Suwon BlueWings in 2007, but failed to regain the touch that made him one of the best players in Korea, ending with no goals scored in the regular season.

After a sluggish one-year spell at Suwon, he rejoined Busan last season.

In 2008, he played 19 regular-season matches and scored four goals, along with two goals in eight appearances in the league cup competition.

Ahn and Busan had talked about him re-signing, but the two failed to reach an agreement.

K-League teams seem to have little interest in the aging star player because they would have to pay 1 billion won ($659,000) on a transfer fee.

``There has been no club to show an interest in Ahn,'' Busan's general manager Ahn Byeong-mo said.

``We can negotiate the amount, but cannot give him up for free.''

However, the clock is ticking fast, with the K-League's deadline for free agent registration on March 2.

``The Australian league kicks off in July, and we have two or three weeks for the MLS. We are in talks with teams, but with no hurry,'' the agent added.

Does anybody have a rough idea on when our ACL tickets will be mailed out?

We arent that far away from the Pohang game.

Your question should be in http://marinators.net/forum/index.php?topic=3152.50 which is talking about tickets but its a good question so I will post there as well.
