Rizzo is a good pick up (if true), we know what we get with Kwas and I would keep Owens.

Prior to his injury he was the pick of our midfield and is a more than adequate squad player even if he doesnt get back to his best.

The problem is... I can't see Owens bothering to get back to his best.
It seems like he isn't training when he plays youth. It is kinda understandable when he is clearly a grade higher than them, but he must not be putting in at training to be staying with the youth.

Pretty unfortunate because he has some ability.

the scum have signed some italian striker and all we can sign is some guy who plays back yard footy in england. I hope for us he works out but i would be more confident if we signed somebody that had good credentials.

Being Itallian won't make him good, heck we had Merenda and he wasn't good enough.

League 2 is hardly back yard footy, maybe it'd be a good idea to actually see people play before we say that they suck. (Reminds me of all the hysteria surrounding the MLS Superdraft)

Edit: This isn't a specific go at Krusty, I just am sick of "Huke sucks" when I'm guessing the number of people around here who have seen Huke play is zero.

I think the sentiment behind his/her comments is more aimed at our failure to sign more players not a specific go at Hukes ability. The response you have given is warranted but does not justify the mariners poor import/marquee recruiting ability/desire.

What's a realistic amrquee the Mariners could get/afford that will actually add something to the team?

They must be out there, a loan from Russia maybe, their league is finished.

That has to be one of the sillier posts we have had for a while TBH

im not having a go at huke i hope he does great im just saying we havent signed anybody. We need a marquee player someone who can change a game and to be honest i dont think we have anybody like that. With the team we have i think we are going to be a laughing stock.I hope were not but thats what i think. I will support us win lose or draw.

A random loan from Russia is hardly a marquee. That is just taking advantage of, and wasting the marquee spot.

The idea of a marquee is to not only improve the football of the team, but to attract crowds and improve the status of the game. This pretty much limits it down to a semi-retired EPL player or a Socceroo. It is unfortunate that they have to be semi-retired, but also good, as they are experienced enough to lead the team, are affordable and have been around long enough for people to know them... just like Fowler and Yorke.

You can't say that you didn't enjoy watching every minute of Yorke playing, despite being on another team. He hardly lost the ball, pretty much won the comp for Sydney and raised the status of the league through the roof. Now Culina and Fowler will do the same thing, hopefully.

I think our height will help us a lot though. It is the technical teams we have to worry about, as they will work out how to expose our defense and they will just run a muck in midfield.

Did you see the box when there was a corner on Friday night?

Seconded, and the fact is a lot of L1 and L2 players are more tactically aware, and some even technically more accomplished than what we see here.

You wouldn't turn down Marc Bridge-Wilkinson or Stuart Elliott, that's for sure.

No, wasting the marquee spot is what we are doing right now.

If it can be taken advantage of then why not. Who gives a crap what it is meant for. If the mariners are playing better football does that not raise the profile of the competition?

Has the club failed to sign new blood for ACL with the deadline close.

If we dont sign them today we are stuck with our current squad.

As per the fox news

Kwasnik is hardly Marquee status..

If thats the case the club has let the fans down
