Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

I know its been mentioned before but should we chase Oliver Bozanic?
He's a coastie, he's played for us before and he cant play reserve football forever.
I think he would be a very handy pickup, even if he isnt as much as an enforcer than Jedi was, he could fill the CM/DCM postion.

what do people see in diego? honest question - i see a player who's got a couple of neat tricks but loses the ball a lot and is hardly a midfield enforcer.

I look at our current midfield and feel he would bring a lot more to the table than anyone else on our roster. Definately not an enforcer in the mile mould but would be a welcome acquisition and would probably work great with A.C

in what way? are we currently overstaffed in players with flash but little product who give away the ball too much? i thought that caceres already had that role down, though caceres does have the unfortunate tendency to occasionally score a goal or make the last pass for a goal.

The Mariners should go in for Costanzo and Diego Walsh for the Champions League as United wont be offering them a new contract and they have experience in the competition. Diego would walk start into our starting line-up in the centre of midfield and Costanzo would be a great help to our defence.

+1

he would limp onto the field....

I get the feeling a big name signing for ACL is just around the corner. They are always very coy about the signings.

Showed some great touches and could certainly do a job at this level, but I think his attitude and wage demands would be an issue from what I have heard about him

Cant shake the feeling that we will only be signing players who are squad quality and nothing more, thus not even pushing the players we have that are playing average at the moment for a spot

Please let me be wrong :(

Seems pointless. If we can't improve on the starting 11 then why bother?

well just get 1 then, even one gun would be better than 5 average players IMO.

it's only going to take one or two players who are more than just your average squad players.

We still need a few squad players to come in IMO, but also some important players.  We need a CB who has the leadership skills of Muscat or Vidmar etc, we need to replace Jedi, Hutch can do a job but he's no Jedinak.  We also need a creative player in the middle of the park, Caceres did ok there at times but his shooting has been poor this season and I feel he's far better using his pace on the wing and cutting in.

In terms of squad players I guess it depends who we lose, Osman is gone who else might leave?  Stringers? Gumps? Owens? Mrdja? Sasho?  I think Sash will go, just a feeling......perhaps we'll look for a player who can play up front if required but can also drop into midfield or the wing.  Then leave 3 main attackers to choose from, whether that third attacker be Mrdja or someone else I dunno but there's not a lot around in the market unless we go overseas.  I think someone who can cover at the back (if Stringers goes) is also needed.

Depending on who we let go we'll have a little room left in the cap, Jedinak was on a decent deal as is Sash and Mrdja so there should be a little there to play with.
