come on sterj. We need a new mile

We wouldn't be able to afford his wage demands.
How much could the kid be askin for?
He is in no position to ask for anything crazy.
If we got him it would be a 1 year contract- Prove yourself.
Goes good = contract upgrade
Goes bad= end of career (or to NSWPL or Victorian PL???)
IMHO he would be a cheaper aquisition than say

Kareem I think you are mistaken.

Andy is taking about sterj not patafta about the wages
far out- dont know wats wrong with me today- i am dead
:redcard: to me :p

what do people see in diego? honest question - i see a player who's got a couple of neat tricks but loses the ball a lot and is hardly a midfield enforcer.

I look at our current midfield and feel he would bring a lot more to the table than anyone else on our roster. Definately not an enforcer in the mile mould but would be a welcome acquisition and would probably work great with A.C

in what way? are we currently overstaffed in players with flash but little product who give away the ball too much? i thought that caceres already had that role down, though caceres does have the unfortunate tendency to occasionally score a goal or make the last pass for a goal.

In the way that we are getting f**k all distribution to our forwards except for the hoof and hope strategy. You must admit that we have looked hopeless midfield in recent weeks and surely his ACL experience could be valuable. Looked at the list too Dibo and noticed the Fabian Barbiero is also off contract... a great young player and would probably be a better addition than Diego.

I know its been mentioned before but should we chase Oliver Bozanic?
He's a coastie, he's played for us before and he cant play reserve football forever.
I think he would be a very handy pickup, even if he isnt as much as an enforcer than Jedi was, he could fill the CM/DCM postion.

I know he is not the Mile replacement that everyone wants but I remember seeing him at Christie Park with a couple of triallists and Smitta. Looked a class above. If Smitta can make a decent go of the HAL I'm sure Ollie would. Have to be better than Reading reserves!!!

I'm with yellowfidello on this.....Barbiero definitely looks good in the limited games he's had this season....Costanzo is too slow and Salley no better than what we have.  I like Trinidad, but not sure if he'd fit in to the Mariners squad....we could always go for Muscat...he's not yet signed with Victory.... :redcard:

I reckon if they win it this year Musky will retire and go into coaching
yep...you could be right on it there.
Personally I'd love to see All Night Dwight here.....as a player and as assistant coach to Lawrie....I'm positive he'd still be capable of shaking up the A-league big time, and his on-field dedication would (hopefully) rub off on our younger players....it's got nothing to do with me being a Man U supporter.....I'm only looking for something to spark our team.

Yeah he would have so much experience and knowledge he could pass on to the squad.
We had the chance last year but didn't take it unfortunately....

Also, you all might think im crazy but what about giving Ljubo Milicevic a shot..
Even just give him a trial and a chance to sort himself out.
He's got Champions League experience but would he pass the no dickhead policy?
Im not sure, maybe others know abit more about him than I do.

He may pass the "no dickhead policy", but im sure he would not pass the "no drugs in your system 24/7" policy

Ah yes very true..
That article about him the other day was a tad eye brow raising to say the least.

Indeed dibo, he may, but will Lawrie, or any other coach, be will to run the risk after "breakfastgate" in Melbourne?

But would have 'breakfastgate' have occured if the whole Muscat incident/clash hadn't been in progress?

If it wasn't for his ridiculous demands (not money) he'd have been here this season.

Too much of a risk IMO, worth a trial at best.

That has piqued my interest. What kind of demands? Future coaching role? Permission to trip the light fantastic to all hours? A reasonable request that just can't be met, or a laughable plea?
