Predrag Bojic has been involved in a few recent trial games, interesting he started with Lawrie at Parra and had a couple of successful seasons over in England, could be an option for Kwa$nik's replacement I guess given he can play anywhere down the right according to wiki?

He's a centre-half. A very traditional sweeper - starts a lot of Sutherland's movements sweeping up in to midfield. Possibly a right-back moving forward but no RM.

TBH I'd be happy with another CB to back us up, we're looking a little light if we pick up an injury, plus we could lose Boogs to the Olyroos.  Never seen him play but if he can mix it in league 1 would be a handy pick up perhaps?

Is doing very well at NSWPL level, standing out in the comp's best side.

Only question is $$ (is working as a trainer atm so min wage would be no option), and by all accounts would badly fail the "no dickheads" policy if it was 5yrs ago. NFI now though.

Guy at work reckons that Predrag is most definitely the best defender in the premier league..  and he doesn't give credit to anyone!

Why bother, if they were any good, they'd be in the A League already, especially if they are over 20 or 21.

Perhaps the under 20 players would be good prospects, so sign them and put them in the NYL, but pass on the rest. From what everyone is saying this Bojic sounds like he has tremendous potential. Keep looking Lawrie there is a superstar Attacking Mid out there somewhere tp sign as our marquee.

if we cant sign a marquee i reckon lawrie will take a punt on some of these kids and hold off on the marquee until the ACL

maybe you're right
OR
lawrie waits until he finds a suitabale marquee for the ACL and sign him halfway through this season

whatever the case is, i think a marquee is out of the question at the start of the season. Lawrie is going to shop around for the best possible guy for our team IMO

Looks like it... Unfortunately. I reckon he should sign another defender though before the preseason cup.

Mile is good enough to be a marquee anyway IMO!!!!!!!

. bit inconsistent there, according to the posts above bojic is 24 and outside the a-league - do you want hime or not?

. but he is not on a marquee salary (yet), so there is still a position available

Hamlet Armenian - we've gotta have him just for the name.
"To pass or not to pass - that is the question"

Probably the best name in Australian football since Christian Care.

By that reasoning we would not have signed Mile 2 years ago. :p

I appologise for not knowing the stastics of every player to have played football in Australia and the time to analyse every post that is place on this forum! I guess you should be running the club based on your obvious levels expertise! Why not run for the FFA director while your there genius. Generally full stops go at the end of sentences, like this one.

Or perhaps some people research before making stupid posts ??? or they actually know a little bit about the club and players they love?

Hi all.

First post! Have to say, great site - I finally signed up so I can join in on my favourite pastime...talking all thinigs MARINERS!!!

Reading this thread, I would agree that the positions we need to fill are: a CB, creative CM, and GK...which takes the squad up to 22 I believe??? Anyways, scanning 442, I came across this artice:

http://au.fourfourtwo.com/news/79633,epl-stars-available-for--free.aspx

In true 442 form, the title is misleading and they are not really EPL stars, more CCC which i have been following for a few years now. However, a couple of the payers did catch my attention. Inigo Idiakez who i think is 34 was released by Southampton. About 2 years ago, this guy was probably one of the best creative midfielders going around in the CCC, was a regular first teamer with Southampton this year. Former Spanish youth international, would be a great pick up for us. I reckon he would kill this league. Also Seb Carole from Leeds. I think he'd be a decent pick up as well. Very quick, good dribbling skills, and can play upfront as well. Wouldnt be a bad replacement for Kawsnik. Wouldn't mind seing Joseph Desire-Job here either if Mrdja doesnt come through.

Obviously, money and salary cap would be an issue, but perhaps move someone under the u23 player cap? Im not sure about what players are on, and i think others here have a lot better knowledge than what i do on this.

Anyways, they are just a few thoughts. My feelings about this season are a bit mixed. I think our first starting 11 is quite strong, but if injuries kick in, i dont think the quality is there in our back up players to mix it with the rest of the league, not this year.
