He probably was. But then i would guess we decided we would go for the sheffield player instead. Whether we told yorke that or not who knows. There does seem to be a slight communication problem going on at the club at the moment.

the way i see it is that dwight is the only one with the communication problem. says one thing to club, then something completely different to the media. he was not happy with the deal offered by the mariners.

The trailist Predrag Bojic could be a possible for a kwassie replacement. How did he go in the last game ?

He played ok in the back line, scored the 1st goal with a far post tap in, but is VERY defence minded. Think Spencer. Almost every time he got the ball, 1st option was to look back.

Reading the match reports from Canberra I see Frank Lagana played and scored, he's the guy who was linked to QLD, former AIS graduate, also played for Empoli? and has had a good year in the VPL I think?

He scored the 2nd last Friday. Cracker. Chip over the keepers head, with pace. Nobody would have saved it. Could be an option I guess.

Did anyone watch the world game yesterday ?

Dwight Yorke said he had been talking to the Mariners for over a year, had decided to take a significant pay cut and it was only in the last month that the deal fell through.

are we going to get a marquee now?  or we'll have no1 before the season  i reckon we need one

I was rather impressed with Lagana's overall game play.
Had a few other chances too. But the goal.. wow.

lagana has enormous potential from what he showed in Canberra, quick and can beat a man. :eek:verhead:

The goal as Bear said was special and funnily enough as someone said he can play anywhere on the right and hescored  from the left

You do not communicate when you are negotiating, you communicate when the deal is wrapped up.

I notice that Mark Milligan has not got a club yet, no one seems to want him in Europe. Is he under 23? Coz I think that we should try and sign him as our under 23 marquee. I reckon this is a good option and we will get added depth in our defensive line and cover the under 23 marquee allocation.

Still need that creative attacking midfielder though as our overall marquee... With Yorke and Hendrie out is there anyone else that anyone can think off?

I think if we could get Milligan and then our marquee are squad would be pretty much complete...plus JVS would be nice too.

I think we thought we had Milligan signed just prior to V2?? Then he shafted us and signed for the Bling.

Doubt he would be welcomed with open arms

Bear and anyone who has been to the games to date anything to offer on Porter. I asked this a few pages back and Bear you said he was cutting it up at the L..ing at the time.

Have seen little of him in the top team but his CV is impressive and was wondering if LM may think his time has come to shine ? Comments anyone !!

One of THE best crossers iv ever seen. His 1st touch needs a little work, but he is young, and he will be so much better if he can get game time for us. He is not playing porely in pre season, but as I said game time will improve him 10 fold. He is the new and improved gumps in the friendly department to, always happy to have a chat, and very down to earth.

Funny thing tonight, he went for a header with a bloke near us on the sideline, ball goes out, blatantly came off him, puts his hand up to try and get the throw in, cops a "nice try" of Mick and myself, and laughes his ass off as he runs away ;D

Yeh, Porter looked really good, especially in the first half. Him and Elrich were moving well down the right and as bear said there were some nice crosses. He even had a nice firm shot from out wide which was unlucky not to go in and would have been a pearler of a goal had it gone in.

Predrag Bojic has been involved in a few recent trial games, interesting he started with Lawrie at Parra and had a couple of successful seasons over in England, could be an option for Kwasnik's replacement I guess given he can play anywhere down the right according to wiki?

Porter was good, his touch is getting better all the time.
When Ossie gets fit again, Caceres joins and Elrich runs.. we'll be lethal.

He's a centre-half. A very traditional sweeper - starts a lot of Sutherland's movements sweeping up in to midfield. Possibly a right-back moving forward but no RM.
