I want Yorke here. Great media exposure, fit and able striker and sure to get a spot kick or two that we seem to get the raw end of the deal on ocassion.

Besides it would pi** Sydney off for us to get more media exposure and potential sponsorship interest than them with the swap of marquee's. I think on the field Yorke is better than Aloisi in any case.

i tend to agree with you except he would def not play striker as he has personally stated that many times...probs wouldnt be worth the marquee spot and would be better if we somehow could manage to get him on player/youth coach deal but not real sure

in response to the talk of him not fitting into our team, i'd be assuming we'd be playing 4-5-1 with elrich and caceres/kwas on the wings and hutch/jedi/yorke midfield only doubt would be that we would need a fit striker (cough mrdja) who can play up on his own

I disagree with a few people here but i think Yorke would be an excellent signing for the mariners.
He has that quality that none of our current players have in the sense his passing is second to none and he can feed our strikers with goal scoring balls which we lacked all season.
Turnball has the $$$$$$$ and we need that $$$ to compete in this league. Also remember we have asia next season and we will need a squad of 23 to 25 players to really challenge but in that squad we need quality a player like yorke provides that. Look at all the top teams in ACL they all have an overseas player of quality

*shakes head in disbelief*

Has anyone here watched a Sunderland game (that he's managed to play in) this season??  He has been nothing short of rubbish.

Too old, too slow, and too much of a jerk off the field.

I just wish this story would die and go away.......  *waits for the inevitable "but the EPL is better than the A-League argument*  Well to that I say, look at all those EPL rejects who've been raging successes here.

*crickets chirp*

I'm not too fussed on the Yorke thing...
but playing a 4-5-1?

We have 4 strikers. Don't know about that idea... <i>especially</i> when it is Lawrie McKinna as manager.

I think you will all agree that we have a pretty strong midfield. And until Danny comes back we
always have Trott and Redmayne.
What we need now is some young fast talent in the forward and backs line. Someone kinda like Joel Stillmark. 17 years old, a great young talent, with a hell of alot of speed.

Yep - Turnbull wants Yorke and it's likely that he'll bring him on board.

Gee, wow - smart man he is then, right??

</rampant sarcasm>

Is that BS or does that actually mean something?

I suspect that it might just mean "bring Yorke and better defenders for next season"

I hope I'm right.
