With Urena, Muller and Goddard, that's all our Visa spots used up?
Each team has 5, whether we use them might be a different issue but they’re there if we want to / can afford to.

ACL has 3+1 and Goddard would fit the +1 if we qualified. Only way I could see that happening though is if FFA cup got canned and we got the spot being 3rd (since City and Sydney already have spots).

Ah 5, thought it was 3, so could be more to come, fingers crossed.

They've said the FFA cup will go ahead but I'm skeptical, would be awesome if we got that place for being 3rd.

From the video highlights Goddard looks as if he can put through those passes to strikers who are prepared to run into the space behind defenders. He could be the player we need to give Urena the chance to score a hatful of goals.

I'm an idiot savant without the pesky savant bit
I think the overhype was what killed him. He showed great promise then scored THAT goal and got talked up like no tomorrow. Then rode the pine from showing poor commitment and effort
Exactly , his huge fkn ego go in the way of his feet

Wonders aloud if we are in for a back to the future season.

Remember when Arnold played 4 4 2 system with a diamond midfield.

In attack, mostly Monty but sometimes Hutch would drop back between the centre backs, with Rose & Pejd pushing up.... as did whoever was playing wide.... in the mids .... thus creating a 442 in attack as well as defense... and during the game we would often defer to a 4 2 3 1 .

I think we are heading for playing with two international strikers up front with both being able to adjust to play a false 9... meaning marking them will be difficult...

If we say Nizzy, Olly and Goddard can all play people thu.... as was the case with Arnold when we WeeMac, Olly, and Musty or Rogic...

If as some suggest Hall takes on the DM role and makes it his own ..

Or maybe going back a tad further when we had Jedi as the DM with Tommy P and Grumpy doing the running and setting up play...

So by my count now we have;
- 12 senior contracted players. Birra, Miller, Niz, Smith, Boz, Urena, Rowles, Simon, Tongyik, Hall, Muller, Goddard.
- 5 Scholarship/youth players. Hatch, Smylie, Tsekenis, Ballard, and Cahill.

Which means 1 GK, 7 Def, 4 Mids, and 5 Fwds in all.

Does that sound right?

So definitely need another GK, another wide player opposite Goddard (or will Hatch cover that role?), and some depth in the Mids.

Apparently Goddard knocked back better paying gigs elsewhere to play for us, so that shows some character in that his primary motivator is playing regularly and improving himself.

That Monty has snared someone like this, shows the currency he has in the game and hopefully the Smurfs loss is our massive gain.

Illustrates three things to me.

1] Your team must not be considered a basket case, wooden spoon for a player of his class, thus why last season was so important in keeping players and getting new decent players.

2] Near guaranteed game time to both develop your game and showcase your skills.

3] Be known for letting players go to a bigger overseas club ...

Goddard would been promised game time, we are going to be competitive, two international strikers playing in front of him, and if he gets that offer from Europe the club will not stand in his way...

Mumbai fan on reddit says Goddard didn't get much game time there.
Sounds like he was there to make up the Asian quota for them.

As Midfielder has said, we've probably promised him game time.
