Official now I guess for DDS

this one hurts, his effort was always top 3.
overall he was a special player to have with us during the shit. Despite the lack of regular goals. Not to look past when he dogged us for a season to sit on Sydney’s bench but if you look closer perhaps he knew something about mulvey before 90% of people.
can’t blame him for cashing in after his best ever season. I for one just hoped it’d be to take a step up and try Europe again.

I was very interested in Ken's talk on the poddy of very well known o/s players from another aleague team being more likely to sign for us than bringing people in from o/s. Does anyone know where a list of off contract imports can be found?

I think DDS going while sad to lose will give us the opportunity to have a more balanced squad.

Just hope we get to keep Urena.

Interesting to hear Jingy Reec was over in Holland on trial. Was looking forward to seeing him do a Kuol next year.

Not sure about that one.

It’s looking like we might have the core of our back 5 and the one we lost so far was solid but not spectacular and the otherside was our weakest in the chain.

I’d prefer a Left footer and Hall is not a RB or LB he is a CB. No doubt about that for me.

I’d rather go three at the back with him on the right of Roun if you want to fit him in the team than him at LB in a back 4
I think 3 at the back is well worth considering. Also gives the opportunity to blood Hatch as a left wing back rather than a full back given the concerns over his defense.

Been thinking a lot about the expected turn over of the squad and if we can tie down the core of which 2 already have (birra & kye) Ruon is highly rumoured to have already extended and if he hasn’t plenty of us are of the belief Hall is ready. Nigro is an astute defender. We’ve still got Ollie and Stens.

our current crop of youth has some absolutely exceptional talent through it. So it’d be a blessing to promote plenty of them. Whoever comes in to manage if they can pull off 3-4 decent signings perhaps a couple visa’s amongst that. I mean we won’t be in too bad of shape. Clisby can be upgraded upon for not too much money, plenty of good LB’s floating around. And we’d all just take finals footy again won’t we?

Staj only made 3-4 signings and one he didn’t end up trusting enough despite being among the top 5 in the league on the ball (Janota) and another got 5minutes and we never saw again not even in training…. What a balls up that was. So he really only used Urena and Nigro. Monty fed him the youth boys when they were ready. Ollie was more of a him telling us he’s coming back instead of Staj bringing him back. So I’m starting to feel more up beat. Just get a manager with some decent contacts. I don’t feel that Ben Cahn fits that, someone correct me if I’m wrong.

A website called transfermarkt or something along those lines is good for contract situations

when was Jing on trial? Played and score again over the weekend in NPL

Makes sense in a way - you dont need to sell Australia to them and any COVID concerns in other parts of the world are still there while we only have minor flare ups. And for us they are a relatively known quantity.

There's guys like Luna that would get starting minutes with us but not City. WU had an import leave but im not going to attempt to spell his name without looking him up. I doubt Ota is staying in Perth if they picked up Clisby.

Not suggesting it's the right appointment for now but if Nick did get the coaching gig his assistant Sergio has lots of connections with Overseas scouts and academies, mainly in Portuguese speaking countries. With covid restrictions the way they are around the world Australia might not be that unattractive to up and coming players in highly competitive regions like South America where wages are relatively low.

Don’t understand some people’s obsession with Janota. Showed a couple of decent touches in glimpses but poor attitude and work rate by all accounts which did not fit with the ethos of the squad at all. Also don’t understand your comments about Jankovic not being seen at training as that’s not true.

Regarding your last sentence, yep you’d be wrong. One of the most highly regarded young coaches in Australia with a good network. Also bear in mind he was responsible for the recruitment of Miller, Stens, Hatch, Nizzy (which helped Hall come here), as well as buhagiar, Wales and others.

Fair enough I got carried away about jankovic.

I’m talking recruitment in regards to a couple handy visa players. Don’t get me wrong I like Ben Cahn too, he started our academy on the path to where it’s at now.
could he bring in a couple high quality low name players from the abyss? That’s my question.

I guess it would have been all but impossible to keep every single one of the team and I hope this decision doesn’t see his career stall again.

Now is the time to allow Nizzy to play as an AM imho, as I believe he can do an excellent job in that position.
Absabloodylutely. Nizzy has so much damn talent, heart of a lion and never say die, apologies for the cliches but hey am I wrong? I think I have a mancrush on the little motivator, my mates look at me sideways when I'm commentating on his oh so brilliant defensive and attack styles, GOD I LUV HIM!!! Matt H and Nizzy we certainly do have some assets.

How much did Staj have an impact on our signings though? I thought Ken was behind most of it.

I know a guy who coached with Ben Cahn, someone I believe will be a fairly successful coach himself in time, and he rates Cahn very highly

Not off contract players, but someone on reddit updates this.

I`d be more inclined to move Rowles to LB Hall and Ruon centre backs and Nigrow /Miller RB...

I like it if we are going for a possession based game if we have to starve the opposition, and if Ruon and Hall punch through the middle and distribute.

This would also possibly allow Olli to stop coming back into centre of defence to play the ball out and focus more on receiving ball and distributing to the front.
Olli did this a lot in those first 10 games but then we went into our shell a bit.

Only downside with Rowles at LB is if we want that overlapping pace and crossing/creative.
Rowles is more of a solid/last ditch defender said bury type.
