I'm thrilled. Birraz is immense but it's the implications of this I'm excited by. He is a key member of the leadership group. Ollie is still contracted, and the other talk in the article is of keeping the core spine of the group which is essential for keeping the culture and the work from this season rolling on.
The relief that Staj leaving isn't the pulling of the thread it looked to be is huge

Yeah and though we can’t know, it does lend credence to the idea the players believed this was the real key to their good season.

For now the big hole is DDS and we need wingers and another striker.

If we keep Ruon as well, how do people feel about Hall at LB?

Not sure about that one.

It’s looking like we might have the core of our back 5 and the one we lost so far was solid but not spectacular and the otherside was our weakest in the chain.

I’d prefer a Left footer and Hall is not a RB or LB he is a CB. No doubt about that for me.

I’d rather go three at the back with him on the right of Roun if you want to fit him in the team than him at LB in a back 4

We are starting to fix alot of he mistakes of the last few years.

1. Solid set backline. The chopping and changing stopped (competent players helped)

2. Also getting the experience to guide the youth right. Great hard older heads to show the boys the way and a good mix instead of of just 1 or 2 experienced guys.

3. Really good youth players

4. Keeping a spine together

We really might just need a couple of flashy players to top it off (not sure where we get them)

When Nigro signed I thought Staj said he could play right or left? Maybe switch him over for Hall on the right, Hall is right footed?

Alternatively, poach Galloway!

Galloway would be great but don’t see us getting him again unfortunately

I agree and acknowledged he had a good season. But even a good team can (and often does) still have weaker elements - and for mine he’s still one of them.

Point being, I’m less worried at losing him than a number of others who I see as more critical to retain.
No argument there-retaining Birraz especially a lot more important than retaining Jack .Now need to retain Ruon though Hall is looking good if he does go.It would be difficult to replace Birraz with a keeper near to his standard.
