I caught the team coming off the bus this morning and had a chat to Kwassy. He said it ws the worst flight ever. Late at night, and they all had to fly economy class. When I asked why this was the case if Qantas is a sponser he said "If you're not a f**king Socceroo they don't give a shit about you".

After his perfromance in Perth he was lucky to be in economy and not on the Indian Pacific

Seems we're chasing Pellegrino:

EXCLUSIVE: Central Coast Mariners are keen on Perth Glory midfielder Adriano Pellegrino and could sign the 26-year-old as early as next month.

It's understood the Mariners see the hard-working South Australian as an ideal addition to their midfield and will push to have the off-contract player signed as early as January.

The Gosford-based club believe the almost certain lure of finals football will help sway Perth to let Pellegrino go before season's end.

The tenacious midfielder has been one of the better performers this season starting 15 times in a hugely disappointing Perth side which has slumped from finals contender to almost certain also-rans.

Pellegrino is a former "Most Glorious Player" award winner having won the accolade in his first season at the club.

im not as critical of this signing- although now it looks like its not true at all- as many of the people on the 442 forum are. atm as cover for wide midfield theres only lewis or porter (but hes injured right now, and that wouldnt be his best position anyway) or hutch out of position. With MicMac's national team commitments and bozanics socceroos/ olyroos commitments coming up over the next year, a bit of extra cover for those positions wouldnt hurt.

Happy not to be signing Pelegrino.
Has ability and seen some great games from him, but FAR too inconsistent a player to build a premiership winning side with.

Re off contract, from memory I thought Wilko signed a 5 year deal - I think it was 3 years ago? Am I wrong?
Pedj just resigned with us the other week too didn't he.

looking forward to this, hope we turn on our irrepresible attacking style; wonder if we'll get a decent crowd with kids more likely to be allowed up late and with promo of five ticket special. Guessing, finger crossed, for 8k. And Perez to light it up!

After last night's performance, please someone tell me McBreen's off-contract this year. He is absolute rubbish at the moment.
For heaven's sake bring back Mrdja, he only trips on the ball, not sprays it over the far touch line from in front. When Nik gets a shot away, he at least gets it in the approximate direction of the goal. We may as well get something out of the last few weeks of his contract, even if it's only amusement.

I admit I'm not serious about bringing Nik back, I was just trying to highlight (or maybe lowlight) what I thought of MsBreen last night.
Why the hell not bring Bernie up from the youth, or one of the other strikers from there. We'd blood them for the future and they couldn't do any worse.
Maybe we should put McBreen in the backline. Booting the ball away from goal to the sideline is thought highly of in that position isn't it?

Ray Gatt in today's Australian:

"CENTRAL Coast Mariners has bolstered its attack by signing out-of-favour Perth Glory striker Michael Baird. The Mariners will make an official announcement today, but indications from Perth are the former Australian youth international will join the club for the rest of the season, providing coach Graham Arnold with some much needed reinforcement of his attacking options before the playoffs next month.

Baird, 27, has been on the outer with Glory since playing in the 2-0 loss to Sydney FC on November 21. He has not been in the squad in its six games since.

It is understood Baird, who has played 13 games this season, needed to play 15 games to trigger a clause in his contract that would have ensured another season at Perth.

Quick and strong, Baird will be terrific back-up for the Mariners following news big striker Nik Mrdja will be sidelined for at least another eight weeks with a knee problem that has troubled him for the past five or six seasons.

Baird, who played in the old national league and has had stints with Brisbane Roar in the A-League and in Romania, will train with his new teammates today and will likely be on the bench for Sunday's game against Wellington Phoenix at Bluetongue Stadium. While he has only signed until the end of the season, indications are that Baird will be offered a more long-term opportunity for next season ......."

Noooooo!

4f*** sake. If they watch the yoof they can have Mitchell Duke. A very handy player and he is good enough to replace either Macbreen/mrdja at the end of their contracts.

i'm gonna be brave and say he will turn out to be a good signing! i think his pace will be useful, IF he can feed off perez or if perez can feed him he will do well. just needs to convert his chances... but thats our season so far!
