I caught the team coming off the bus this morning and had a chat to Kwassy. He said it ws the worst flight ever. Late at night, and they all had to fly economy class. When I asked why this was the case if Qantas is a sponser he said "If you're not a f**king Socceroo they don't give a shit about you".

I can confirm the red eye trip back from Perth was rubbish. I commentated the game and having to go straight back to the airport after the game and then wait for a flight to leave at 11pm was rubbish. So I can only imagine how the players felt after playing 90mins in 35+ degree heat.
It is different to flying to Europe because you are flying back in time but have the ability to sleep on the plane. When the flight is only 4 hours and once it settles down after the food service it really only leaves a couple of hours for sleep. Not good when you have been up all day and playing football in hot conditions. I feel for the players and their is no way they should have had to fly back game night as i know how bad i felt all day yesterday.
Also the turn around of going back 3 hours and then forward 3 hours in the space of 48 hours is not good for your sleeping patterns or your body.

After working in Perth for 4 months with regular trips back to the coast can confirm it's a crap flight and you do feel shit the next day. Having said that, are the Mariners men or what? HTFU really. One day we might have the funds to do better but for now times are tough so just get on with the job.

Well Arnie has said he wants to sign a good striker. I agree there shouldn't be much change in the side. I'd imagine Doig and Mrdja would go and we'd bring in 1 good striker.

Off the top of my head I think the following are off contract at the end of this season - McGlinchey, Bojic, Wilkinson, Lewis, Kwasnik, Mrdja, Doig - not sure about Zwaanswijk...
Expect Wilko to sign again, hope Zwaanswijk too; Mrdja and Doig will go; It's up to Kwas if he stays - he must be more consistent to impress Arnie and it depends upon what Arnie wants from his squad if he retains Lewis, who for my money looks quite promising but yet to knock the door down to be retained.
Need - small, clever, gifted goalscorers as foil to Simon/ McBreen; and cover for Weemac.
Plus - who from the NYL is worthy of a first team contract?
