Huke, Crowell, Dmac, Elrich and Travis gone isnt it?

Wombat, I agree that he is a very talented footballer but by all accounts was/is a less than good influence around the place. Up himself seems to be the general opinion.

Doubtless will resume his stellar career in L2
Conference more like it. Crowell came from their so he can return after his working holiday with Brown.

Huke not gone yet. Hey may stay.

Huke would only be a squad player for mine. Shannon Cole might be one we could chase. At least we have no left for other teams to steal so we get to make our own bed.

I reckon Huke (when fit) has real potential. Worth keeping IMHO

Agree with that and is a very technical i.e. using space defender I have a lot of time for Huke ... would make IMO an excellent defensive mid..

Given that we have lost our first choice LB and RB and one of our first choice CB is injury prone - and listening to GA we have two distinct areas to look at. Maintain the defence and add attacking flair up front. Huke looked a chance at RB but may have gone, If so - since fullbacks are hard to find I would look at Wilko at RB  and then look to add

First choice LB -- Jamieson or (I wish) Chippers
First choice CB  -- McKain or Meggsy --??
Backup CB -- how has Cvetanovski gone on trial??

The front is more problematic. We have looked laborious in attack most of the year. Wee-Mac on occasions has looked good - but we can't really expect Amini to do too much next year. So a complete look at our attacking midfield is needed. So hopefully we will get

First choice LM -- ?
GA's Argentine AM --?
First choice RM --?
Smaller agile support striker --?

How you fit that under the cap is the problem when we are looking at possibly 6 first choice players and 1 squad player.

Gives us heaps to play with.

We need new RB and LBacks.  Another Centre Back for when Doig is injured.
Centre Mid (probably Marquee).  Left and Right wing...starting 11 standard.
Another Striker  to go with Disco, McBreen and Matty.

he's already resigned but thats not the point.

why would you want to release Brad Porter??

The sad truth is he isn't really good enough.  You could keep him as a useful squad player but why not bring in someone better.  Too many flaws in his game for HAL for mine and if I was forced to pick i'd rather have a Kwassie.  I actually prefer Lewis to Porter even though they play on different flanks.

If he had been converted to a wing back 7-8 years ago he would be excellent but he is a bit of a liabilty learning the art now.  Not really good enough as a winger and certainly not centre mid at HAL level.

Is there an official announcement about those who've been released? I've seen comments on the forums, but nothing else.

it was on fox sports FC last night. Arnold said everyone who was coming off contract was released.

really the only players who were 'released' and are still playing are; Dmac, Travis and Elrich... rest have either retired or signed for another club.
