CCM vs Victory

Agreed. I would not like to tinker with the team too much but I think Dutchy wuld make a cracking DM. Tackles well, passes brilliantly and is composed on the ball. Perhaps the workrate needed to play DM would let him down.

Doig certainly does not have the motor to play DM and his passing game is limited.

I'd even think of Amini at DM with Perez at CAM

You're all out of your minds. We have a DM - Hutch. Why would we not use him and instead play someone out of position?

Hutch can do the defensive side of the job - but he really stifles the attack side of the equation.

Dutchy regularly advances to play in midfield - it's one of our attacking weapons that doesn't often get mentioned; both Wilko and Dutchy get forward far more than most people would think. No need for Dutchy to change position, just keep playing the way he is.
Its obvious that the choice facing Arnie is either to back Sainsbury again despite being slaughtered last time by Broich or move Wilko to RB which means that Doig will come in which will slow the go forward of the team immensely - as in Wilko is slow any way, now we have Doig who has no confidence in his ability on the ball and Hutcho at DM who has to throw a 360 before releasing the ball.

I agree Dibo, everyone seems to have an Anti-Hutch mindset this season. I'm not saying that he is deserving of a first team spot, but we know from over the years that he can pull out a good game, maybe the big stage on NYE is just what he needs.

Thanks EP!

That would be right Hutcho.s still on boxing Day time and the next game is New Years Eve

This is Arnie's dilemma. The choice may depend on the Melbourne team. Sainsbury got beaten by skill (Broich) But also by pace. If Archie (hamstring injury?) and Kruse (Socceroos camp?) who are both quick, aren't playing it is a lot easier to pick Sainsbury at RB.

Brebner back in

'It is the only change coach Ernie Merrick has made to a team chasing a fourth straight Hyundai A-League win and looking to extend their unbeaten streak to seven.'

I guess that means Kruse is playing but Archie is still out. I would bring Doig into the centre and push Wilko wide. Hutch to DM

Play Sainsbury. The kid had a rough night against Broich, he ain't Robinson Crusoe there. Let him have a belt at it. Hutch is a DM. He should play there.

We pay these blokes to do a job. They should go and do it. When we put faith in our prople, they play within our system and we take the three points everyone will wonder what the fuss was.

Take Brisbane. Take Matt Smith. Not a special player. But he got asked to do a job within a sound structure and he's tearing the wings off strikers like a six year old with flies.

Let Arnie and the boys do their jobs and we'll get what we can get. It's not like we've had lots of reasons to doubt them so far this year.

I can see it now...

...Amini goes on a mazy run in the penalty area late in the game. Gets brutally hacked by Musc**t with a studs up tackle, combined with an elbow to the groin, and a head butt.

Referee awards a penalty, converted by Zwaanswijk, for a 2-1 win. Red card to Musc**t.

Match Review Board steps in and gives Musty a 2 week ban for diving, and reverses Musc**t's red card.

The A-league is so f**king predictable these days.

Lineup as CBowden had it I think.

Though I agree Griffiths has seemed to add more to our attack, Hutch is arguably better than Griffiths in a few areas, so like Dibo I don't see what all the DM fuss is. He's more than capable of doing a job for us and has done so many times that he deserves more faith than doubt from us I believe.

Right back worries me FAR more, because Pedj offers a lot to our attack, and worse than Broich running at Sainsbury would be Robbie Kruse atm. So I suspect GA will more probably change our central pairing again bringing in Doig.

It's a big game. I am really looking forward to it, hope that we are UP for it. If we play well we will comfortably but Victory can be difficult opponents. Expecting three points in front of season-best crowd

Now that we have appealed Pedj's suspension surely he has to be available for todays game unless they meet today for the review.

I don't think it works like that, unless it can be a suspended sentence sort of thing? Hmm would be great, we need him

The penalty stands until rescinded I believe.

I think that's right. Which makes it even more of a f**ked situation, that even if the appeal is upheld at least half the penalty would have been served.

According to the CCM site, we are appealing the length of the sentence, not the sentence itself. If the appeal is upheld, it will revert to a one-match ban, served today.
