ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

...but I can't help but feel they could be squeezed out of more value for money as a full time profession. I don't know if this is unheard of, but if Im ever in charge of a club I would treat it like a nine to five full time job... Which it is. When you are not training, you're in a lecture theatre reviewing tactics, doing case studies on successful players that play your position and why they're great, reviewing in depth every single game the opposition that week has played, writing reports on your opposite number in each team identifying their strengths and weaknesses etc, this seems to me as completely fair and something I would happily do as a full time employee. Anyway.
Good to see the boys seem in good spirits, some good banter after training was done.
Agreed. ESPECIALLY if you hold the current, ongoing record for the worst team in ALeague history

The length was quite short, from warm-up to boots off it was barely over an hour, now I understand they do this every day and don't spend any time on fundamentals, but I can't help but feel they could be squeezed out of more value for money as a full time profession. I don't know if this is unheard of, but if Im ever in charge of a club I would treat it like a nine to five full time job... Which it is. What the actual flap? They're only training for an hour (not even, given warmup time)?

Am I the only person who feels like this is inexcusable?
And you said they don't spend time on fundamentals - why the hell not? These need practicing too.

Given this is their full time job, what are they doing for the rest of the day?

Or were they doing something else that day? Gym session perhaps?

Given our onfield performance - and lack of consistency with the basics, our wider strategy, movement, fitness problems and issues with generally playing together, I feel like we need some explanation here.

I think now would be a good time for a club to do a 'day in the life of' - show us that the players are working hard for our loyalty.

Because from your post, professional football in the worst team the competition has ever seen in the most consistently bad club the league has ever seen is sounding like a cruisy life!!!!
Or are my expectations unreasonable?

Bloody hell - I’ve done 15 minutes warm up, 3 hours of hard training, and 40 minutes of S+C today! I seriously hope thy were doing extras in the gym or something similar, it’s way to far from the game to be dropping intensity and load now.

We had someone ages ago that would come on and spout a whole heap of rumours, then hurl abuse whenever anyone questioned it or simply asked for an explanation. Same person?

Obviously Offsider is here to stir up shit, so don't bother trying to engage in a civil conversation with him.

Poor old Offy, he thought there was a clique of members, against him, on this forum. He just did not realise it was the whole forum. :grouphug:

There is more stuff from him that was removed. He was given enough chances but kept abusing anyone who tried to engage in conversation with him. Some people just can't take being questioned or have a civil discussion. They dish out a whole heap of abuse and cry about it, act like a victim (the whole forum is against me, blah blah) whenever someone bites back. They usually end up on twitter.

I was at terrigal at lunchtime today and saw Mm there at a cafe... guess if they were doing extras... it wasn't with him?

I would thought today would be a heavy training day too. Disappointing if they're only doing an hr. It's not like we're endowed with Barcelona calibre freaks.

I watched them around 10am and back home at 11.45am. 6 to 8 players were still having a kick around. I thought the session was longer than usual.

- a pair of 'Night Vision Glitter Goggles'
( that can see glitter sparkling on their horns in the dark )

& Guess what ?? ..... I got BOTH !!

Thin ice gagging forum members imho Adz, I might not always like what Offy has to say or how he says it but he is entitled to his viewpoint.

That said, personal abuse should always be discouraged and dealt with when necessary, as long as honest heartfelt debate isn’t being denied as part of that process. The written word can very easily be misinterpreted and the reader cannot also know what headspace the writer is coming from, so like I say sanctioning someone should always be the form of last resort.

Adz has a very good judgement on these things and is great at giving warnings etc.
offy is at fault. If he just left the stupid stuff off he had some good points people would of listened to. He was very happy to engage in crap. We don’t need it that’s why this forum is so good.

I agree with all of that. It's nothing to do with his opinions but the way he attacked anyone who questioned him. His last post said something like "you're too lazy to follow up on a lead I gave you" and "f**k you". If you're asked to explain an opinion and that's your response, it's really not something for this forum. He was given so many chances to pull his head in but refused to, instead going further with the attacks. We haven't had anything like this for a long time and most people can have discussions and a bit of banter without going too far.

I actually thought his input was needed, questioning the club, training, etc, etc, but when it comes to a point that other forum members are reluctant to post because they might cop it from him... have to draw the line somewhere.

He can come back if he can play nice with others. :naughty: :grouphug:

I don’t know why so many of our fans are still so enamoured with our former coach after his recent behaviour now he is head Scummer. Plus, he has form in tapping up our former players after grooming O’Donovan for virtually the whole season prior to his defection.

I`m not against anyone one here thanks.
If I don`t like the posts from someone I just don`t read them or don`t respond to them.
Offy is a very learned gentleman who writes what he thinks and often writes to provoke debates on here .
Some of his posts are very insightful, others funny and yet others are very provocative..
Whether you like what is written or not, we should respect the persons right to have their say.
Personal attacks on here should be deleted by the mods....:soapbox:

He was passionate, and yes he took banter too far here and there. But at least he was passionate. He was our own little forum villian that went against the status quo. I personally enjoyed how he questioned everything and would argue with others.

Heck, if we can’t take a little “f**k you” here and there, are we really Australian football fans? I mean shit. The team we all support f**ks us week in week out and we all come back for more without so much as a dinner. Least offy would share his dirty casks.

One last edit to add:
He was a pensioner who looked after his dogs damn well, clearly not a bad bloke. He watched every mariners game twice he was such a fan. But apparently he isn’t a good enough fan for us, because he’s a little rough around the edges. I saw plenty of shit from other “respected” posters here who were putting shit on him. I just hope he doesn’t feel ganged up on or like no one here valued his opinion. Because outside looking in.. it f**ken well looked that way to me.
