I’m not sure we will, from what he said, they believe nothing they say can/will make a difference right now because the only thing that will change the mood is a couple of wins.

I’d say there’s some truth to that.

But....

I don’t like putting words in anyone’s mouth. But if Shaun’s not talking... if you read between the lines it means they think they’ve done most things right, have had a lot of ill luck and some poor individual errors explain most of our ills and otherwise we are not truly far off the pace.

Personally, I think 3 good halves of football (against scum/Perth/SFC) have them drastically overestimating our teams capabilities. We simply don’t have enough quality on the park or depth to win any foreseeable games.

Brisbane are our closest marks, does anyone really believe we’re a better side than they are? An awful Wanderers were way too much for us. A rattled and very average scum managed to pretty easily run back over the top of us.

Everyone who knows my posts over the years knows I’m glass half full, but we are the worst side by a good margin right now.

Maybe if Tom H, Oar, McCormack were all in our lineup and all fit with a great understanding of each other, and Gameiro was proving his potential at last coming off the bench then we’d be a chance of improving etc...

But they’re not even in our squad right now. They’re injured. They’re not match fit. They have no understanding, and we don’t know if McCormack’s ever coming back or Tommy will continue being overlooked, and Tommy Oar still has what it takes.

Throw in aging players, Matty, Cisse weemac who have all struggled. And young players who are understandably not HAL standard yet, Murray, McDonald, And cap it off with the worst first choice keeper we have EVER had at the mariners, and the turn around Shaun and co is obviously expecting, is a pipe dream imo.

I really wish it wasn’t and I could be optimistic. But I just don’t see it.

If I could add, that talk in the street is not what it used to be.

Further, our club is being held out as the reason to bring in P & R.... once upon a time our catch cry of """Nobody likes us, We don't Care""' had some bite on both sides..

Today we are in shambles, once the club leading off the park, across many areas,,,, today its difficult to see anything noteworthy we are doing..

The answer IMO is management, both off field and coaching staff...

I do not think there is anything management can do at the moment except hope.
The only person who can change things is MC, and he is limited in what he can do.
If we have spent up to the cap ceiling we cannot terminate players and replace them. The terminated players salaries still count in the cap.
I suspect we may be limited in our injury replacements, because most of those were signed injured. Not sure how the rules work.
I do not see MC putting in marque funds in Jan.
He could sell, but I doubt there would be a buyer willing to pay his asking price at the moment.
The only selling I think we will see is maybe Paine going in January.
I suspect everyone is just hoping to see the season out, keeping their fingers crossed for the odd win, and hopefully get some good signings and an effective team next season.

Which is truely diabolical because four weeks ago Nothing would have made me happier. Mc then put into motion activity and noises to the fact that he was now ready to build the team into a competitive force once again. New coach, Spend, phelan etc etc.

Now I would like to see the result of the change of committment from him. Unfortunately I think he once again backed the wrong coach as mulvey recruited on the cheap before the ffa change and now we have to wear that mistake. Why he persists with playing the worst visa player while he sits one of the best is mind boggling.

Phelan has gone, Mc Cormack is probably gone but even if he isn’t he is ineffective in this squad. Cisse has gone backwards and was originally talked out of retiring but now he doesn’t matter. I rate him, faty2 , and with mcglinchy , two of the worst visa players in the league. It is not their fault that mulvey underestimated the quality of the league now and I am sure they both would like an escape from this seasons nightmare.

I was holding out for the new year to see what the entire squad could do once everybody was fit, even if I had to put up with kennedy trialled as a striker as long as he wasn’t picked in the sticks I hoped that we could improve enough to avoid the spoon.

I messaged the club a week before the jets game to find out when training was on so I could take my boys down to watch give them some support. I got no response from the club. A great effort from the club really getting that community spirit. As loyal fans I think we are doing great under very difficult circumstances. There is only so much fans can take . MM said after the game the noise was fabulous from the stands in the first half but after the jets scored you could feel it go quiet what the f does he expect. I don’t know who we see be can we make a banner “Enough is Enough we want answers” or something along them lines.

Great post as always FP but I would take issue with the comment about BK being our worst ever keeper (poor as he is) given that our almamata includes such luminaries as Trott and Passfield but I can understand if your mind had tried to erase those memories.

Can someone explain to me what the deal with Gameiro is? I've heard he is fine but doesnt want to play? Or is psychologically rattled and therefore not putting in 100% to get back?

We spoke to Gamiero a few weeks back and he was incredibly frustrated about his situation. The lack of a proper S&C Coach up until that point had meant that he had no structured recovery programme, meaning he had previously been pushed too hard, too soon, resulting in another setback.

Hopefully the appointment of Andy Thompson will improve that situation, although I am hearing that he is more than a little underwhelmed by our lack of facilities on that side of things.

Whilst I normally hate buying into conspiracy theories, it does seem odd that MC is supposedly going to be here in Aus for 7 weeks, when his typical stay is usually marginally longer than it takes for the ink to dry on his visa stamp.
