If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Can anyone tell me if training will be on tomorrow at pluim? Down for a few days and would love to see them while on leave.

10am pluim is the usual but they could go to the Gym or pool first.

Id put money on 10am at pluim tbh.

Might see you there Shipwreck. You not from Perth are you?

Whilst I normally hate buying into conspiracy theories, it does seem odd that MC is supposedly going to be here in Aus for 7 weeks, when his typical stay is usually marginally longer than it takes for the ink to dry on his visa stamp. o_O

I am at the stage where I am ready to listen to any conspiracy theory.

I am expecting some dramatic news release (not necessarily good) sometime in the next 2 months.

Great post as always FP but I would take issue with the comment about BK being our worst ever keeper (poor as he is) given that our almamata includes such luminaries as Trott and Passfield but I can understand if your mind had tried to erase those memories. ;)

:)

Lol yeah ok, I think time has definitely dulled my memory then and probably also because those periods weren’t as dire for us as a whole that they don’t really haunt me. I merely remember them as being shit keepers, but Kennedy... oh man... I must just be too pissed off with BK to see any reason.

I think Pasfield has improved as a keeper since he left us, he makes some decent saves for Wollongong. As for Trott, he's average even in the NNSW NPL.

training at 10am is bloody ridiculous to begin with. Why not 7am when the heat is bearable? Even NYL used to train at 7am last season but new coach changed it to 8am so he get's a sleep in !!

Training is on if anyone is keen to come down, British dude taking them through the warm-up, I'm assuming that's the SnC coach?

First thing I noticed is Hiariej is not showing any signs of a calf injury... He isn't strapped up, is warming up 100% and is an absolute professional. Wtf

That can just mean it’s not 100% but it’s close - and depending on the session you’d do it, or parts of it and or stop at any signs of fatigue etc...

I had a very quick peek.

Looked like a good session. Aiden looked 100%. Tommy was training on his own but looked fit enough to me.

Muley (gets the v back when we get our first V) was coaching them well.

Pearce was 1st choice keeper and Kennedy reserves.
Would prefer to see Munford out there.

Was great to see the boys train, they looked hungry and it was pretty warm.

Things I noticed that were interesting

MM is a good coach, several times he stopped play in their 11v11,debriefed a mistake, highlighted the correct decision and would then quiz the player at fault the next time around on what he should have done, particular emphasis on playing from the back and coached Golec out of a few mistakes and slowly built his confidence, I thought it was well done.

He also likes to keep his distance from the players, to the point where he won't use any nicknames at all, the players are all shouting at eachother as "Aido" "Golly" etc but MM will always refer to them as Aiden and Antony, whether addressing them or not, interesting.

The length was quite short, from warm-up to boots off it was barely over an hour, now I understand they do this every day and don't spend any time on fundamentals, but I can't help but feel they could be squeezed out of more value for money as a full time profession. I don't know if this is unheard of, but if Im ever in charge of a club I would treat it like a nine to five full time job... Which it is. When you are not training, you're in a lecture theatre reviewing tactics, doing case studies on successful players that play your position and why they're great, reviewing in depth every single game the opposition that week has played, writing reports on your opposite number in each team identifying their strengths and weaknesses etc, this seems to me as completely fair and something I would happily do as a full time employee. Anyway.

Good to see the boys seem in good spirits, some good banter after training was done.
