ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Based on some tweets I've seen, it looks like the stadium is planning to rip up the turf on the eve of next season which means even if the club wanted to, they can't issue an assurance of all games being at CCS - although Shaun has said he'd like to think the last 3 years of all games at home would be evidence enough

Seems like more. Nearly sounds as if the FFA have questioned our licence and our metrics ala phoenix and they are getting in front of the story. The line about presenting to the FFA seemed a bit weird. Why do they need to present anything
Exactly what I was thinking. Why they f**k are they presenting to FFA?

I can imagine that part if not all of the presentation to the FFA would be about the W-League - something that was mentioned in the expansion announcements last months. These points probably all have relevance to that.

  • The addition of seven new coaching and football staff members including full time coaches appointed in the Academy
  • A complete overhaul of the Academy structure including department heads and a new Junior Reps program
  • Continued discussions with Central Coast Council in regards to Stadium Management rights
  • Continued progress with FFA for future W-League team
  • Increased training fields and facilities for the Academy to keep up with the significant growth including full size and small sided synthetic pitches

The mere mention of offers to move games away from Gosford grinds my gears. If the council have to rip up the pitch, do it during winter in the off-season. Why does CCC hate the club so much? That relationship needs to be mended as soon as possible.

It doesn’t just hurt the club it hurts the members, many of whom are rate payers, it hurts the people employed for the event either directly or indirectly and their employers - that’s an extra catering gig someone misses out on, maybe a bar doesn’t put on an extra staff member or two that night and businesses lose extra trade that match day brings in. If it’s a power play by the council it’s a dick move and not ok at all.

If the games are played elsewhere, Do we know what alternate local grounds are approved for HAL games? I can’t think of any other than CCS between Scumville and Sydney.

Just makes the announcement look even
Worse because everyone reads it as per the tweets then the club says that’s nkt what they are talking about. Poorly written imo

As for the grass in september it’s probably because that’s the best time for it to take. Every weekend warrior knows you put new grass and plants in during spring so that would be my guess

Bugger talking to Shaun 1v1 at a soccer match.
We (as fans) need a meeting with the club management and even the players.
Skype Charlesworth in (as has been done previously) and get things moving.
F**k me it`s not rocket science, talk to the fans.
All the BS about the FFA and spending the cap is wearing thin.
I supported the appointment of Mulvey but I`m down to my last few games.
The coach makes the decision who to bring in and who plays in what positions, all this shite about Tom being injured and players like Baro and Brama being told to piss off needs to be brought out into the open and explanations need to be given.
We also need to know how a team that trains for an hour a day or whatever they do can survive.
I know its been hot but why can`t they start at 7 train until 11, go for a swim at the beach, have lunch, watch some videos of the the next opponent,
do a critical analysis of them for 2 hrs then go home.
FFS most of our players can`t even accurately pass the ball or cross the ball. They are clueless at best.
Losing teams shouldn`t be doing less work. They need their collective arses kicked and work harder.
Mulvey has to bite the bullet and make us win or he can walk away...It`s that simple.

The council hates the club so much 'cause we don't play League. They won't rip the turf up in winter 'cause that would prevent the one or two RL games there.

It's not like we haven't played 3 away games on the bounce before. Surely people could talk and plan for that....

That`s what kills us.
Home /away / home / away is the only way we should be playing and that goes for all clubs.
Fox sports is killing the game,f**king us over with shit time slots.
All teams should get an even share of timeslots

Still not sure how to take this. Is MC saying we're still looking at taking home games away regardless of the fact that it was an intensely unpopular idea
or
is he warning council they need to renegotiate or we'll consider taking games and therefore business away
or
both?
Either way it leaves a worrying taste in the mouth:
It is a priority for us that FFA and Central Coast Council meet to discuss and ensure there is a long-term commitment and viability to playing games at Central Coast stadium. We have received and are expecting more enquiries about alternative options to see the club play games away from Central Coast Stadium, however a long-term stadia strategy and commitment to the Central Coast must remain core priorities and principle of the club.

It is badly worded and open to interpretation Away from the stadium may be the crucial phrase.

Assuming new investors he could be saying

the stadium only has one major tenant and you have to make it viable to play all our home games there or we will have to consider other options.. We have new investors and we are building new pitches. You need to make the stadium viable for us or maybe we will develop one of the new pitches with a couple of 3000-5000 stands either side at Tuggerah and only play at CCS for major games.

Ideally we end up controlling the management rights and/or a long term lease. Certainly playing at our own smaller stadium at Tuggerah would have a much lower break-even crowd. But hiding our home ground in the back blocks of Tuggerah when one alternative is a stadium that can 'Marinated' in a revitalised Gosford may not be the long term best play.

Friends of Lawries who don’t think well of Charlesworth perhaps?
