ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

What ever happened to the fans being added to the board or what ever it was.

I'd be very careful getting involved in that way. Maybe an advisory group of fans - but that is very hard to put together. who do they represent:-
  • active support
  • prawn sandwich eaters
  • families
  • this forum
  • the members facebook group
  • the pod guys
  • the supporters club
Each group will have different concerns and opinions as to what needs to be done and what the priorities are. The only thing that most of agree with on the forum is that Newcastle are the scum.

Friends of Lawries who don’t think well of Charlesworth perhaps?

Sorry - but Lawrie as Mayor was not much use to us either. If the Mariners were being discussed he always recused himself claiming a conflict of interest. I think he should have stayed for the vote because it was a lucky "confluence of interest"

It is badly worded and open to interpretation Away from the stadium may be the crucial phrase.

Assuming new investors he could be saying

the stadium only has one major tenant and you have to make it viable to play all our home games there or we will have to consider other options.. We have new investors and we are building new pitches. You need to make the stadium viable for us or maybe we will develop one of the new pitches with a couple of 3000-5000 stands either side at Tuggerah and only play at CCS for major games.

Ideally we end up controlling the management rights and/or a long term lease. Certainly playing at our own smaller stadium at Tuggerah would have a much lower break-even crowd. But hiding our home ground in the back blocks of Tuggerah when one alternative is a stadium that can 'Marinated' in a revitalised Gosford may not be the long term best play.

. it does read a bit like a threat ... a ploy that has worked so well for the club in the past

... but suggesting that we build our own stadium on the coast would be an impossible dream if threatening the council - the same council the club's development arm have been blaming for holding up continued development. there is no way they would approve such a thing

. i believe it is another push for management rights* - now something other than an interim council is in place

* unfortunately the cynic in me wonders whether the 'offer' is only being used to support that aim ... it is the most Charlesworth-like thing in that letter

Those are the tweets I was referring to indeed.

As for the questions earlier about why we're presenting to FFA, Shaun told a commenter on FB "this is organised by CCM in light of current environment and opportunities"

Personally i think some people are being harsh about the letter - I think it read well, highlighted some actual changes that have occurred and what's on the table, seems to indicate they're looking to increase the spend. Not sure what else people would want from such a letter?

I can't believe the turf would be ripped up for our season....surely it can be done at other times in the year? Including the rest of the year when the stadium is barely used? Council should be fiercely protecting our usage of the stadium given it regularly brings income into the CBD and we're the only national team representing the Coast.

That's not enough info......what is going on that we need to present to the FFA?
How many more years is our license guaranteed for?

"Opportunities" - discussions around selling? If so, why not be upfront?

If 'opportunities' is a euphemism and the FFA are saying 'justify your existence' then tell us this - because as fans, we can try to help and do what we can to rally support. But we need to know if that's the case.

Time for some more transparency.

As someone who once followed the Seattle supersonics it's been interesting to read the letter to the fans from Charlesworth. Basically they got sold to new owners.
Who tried to get the city to upgrade a dilapidated stadium and support it with better facilities but the city wouldn't budge so they moved to OKC.
I guess be careful when dreaming of new owners

About the turf being "ripped up". Many stadia replace their turf twice a year. Different grasses for summer and winter seasons.

No one in their right mind would buy the Mariners to move.

The brand is so tainted at the moment it would be a stupid business decision.

could be why ais (Canberra) coaches have been appointed to youth teams! In preparation ... plus there's 2 or 3 kids from Canberra in NYL
