Tommy Rogic started & scored the opening goal for Celtic in their draw against Invernes CT, in the SPFL.

Brendan Rodgers subbed him off at 84 mins whilst Celtic were 2-1 up, commentators saying:

- "What an important contributor, I'm sure most of the Celtic fans would say that."

"He's just been a different player this season, he's getting better ...and better & if his fitness levels can improve, but the impact he has on football matches has been outstanding this season !"

5 mins later, Alex Fischer levelled the score-line with a header in the 89th minute from a corner for Inverness CT.
Finishing 2 -2.

Watching him so far for Celtic this season, as well as in games for the Socceroo's I really don't think the comments about his 'fitness-levels', that they're talking about are valid.

I think it's just become a 'hang-over' habit carried on from previous Celtic boss Ronny Deila subbing him at 60-75 min, only because Rogic did struggle to go for longer periods ..... but that was back then, NOT now imo.

I'm also pretty sure Tommy was devo'd to be stupidly 'left entirely out' by Rodgers in the Barcelona UCL game at the Nou Camp ......but after that 7-0 drubbing, he can have the saving grace to have 'not being apart' of such a woeful performance.

NOT even Tommy could have made a difference to that rampaging Barca performance.

Tommy needs to put a full season together then hopefully he can kick on again.
Coach doesn't trust him fully yet. Leaves him out in games that really count but seems to want to give him ago.

Jesse Curran played a full match for Dundee FC Youth as they beat St Johnstone FC Youth 1-0 at home.

Tom Rogić played until the 57th minute as Celtic drew 3-3 at home with Manchester City in the Champions League.

Matt Sim played a full match as Cape Town City drew 1-1 away from home against Highlands Park

Celtic's Rogic impresses in City UCL thriller:

Australian midfielder Tom Rogic was in fine form for Celtic providing an assist in their 3-3 draw with UEFA Champions League Group C rivals Manchester City.

The result meant City's winning streak under Pep Guardiola came to an end in dramatic fashion as Celtic got their first Champions League point of the season.

A double to Moussa Dembele had the Celtic fans confident of a shock win until a 55th minute goal to Nolito ensured City didn't go home empty handed.

Rogic was masterful during the first half directing Celtic's attack against their more fancied opposition before being substituted in the 56th minute.

Guardiola's City went behind for the first time in the Spaniard's tenure when Moussa Dembele put Celtic ahead after just three minutes, despite appearing to have been in an offside position.

City hit back just nine minutes later through Fernandinho only for Raheem Sterling to steer Kieran Tierney's shot into his own net, but the England winger made amends with a superb turn and finish at the other end to level the match before half-time.

Dembele put Celtic ahead for a third time shortly after the restart to keep a roaring home crowd dreaming of a memorable victory, but Nolito equalised swiftly when Craig Gordon parried Sergio Aguero's shot into his path.

The result marks an impressive response from Celtic - hammered 7-0 by Barcelona in their Group C opener - while City will hope the blip in their immaculate record under Guardiola is nothing more than just that.

Brendan Rodgers said before the game that Celtic needed to start brightly and they did just that when a free-kick found James Forrest in space in the box and he crossed for Nir Bitton to fire in a header that beat Claudio Bravo via a touch from Dembele's chest.

Bravo saved well from Kolo Toure soon afterwards but Celtic's impressive start was undone when Aleksandar Kolarov's shot found its way to Fernandinho, who controlled the ball before sliding a low shot past Gordon into the corner of the net.

But Celtic maintained their high tempo attacking football and restored their lead when Tomas Rogic broke down the middle and fed Tierney, whose angled shot hit Sterling's outstretched leg and flew in at the near post.

As an enthralling first half continued apace, City looked threatening with every attack and Celtic were sliced open when David Silva's threaded pass found Sterling, who beat Tierney with instinctive skill before side-footing the ball past Gordon to equalise.

Within 72 seconds of the second half, the ball was in City's net again when Kolarov made a terrible mess of Tierney's cross and Dembele, with his back to goal, scored by hooking the ball over his shoulder and past Bravo.

Just as in the first half, City were quick to draw level again and it was another Silva pass that opened Celtic up before Aguero's shot was saved and Nolito tucked home the rebound.

After an hour of end-to-end football played at a frenetic pace, Celtic put men behind the ball in the final half hour to ensure they did not let a vital point slip, and Gordon made a good save to prevent Kolarov's cross from finding Fernandinho as it flashed across the face of goal.

Fernandinho almost gave one of the Champions League's most entertaining encounters a final twist when he hit a dipping drive just over from 25 yards, and Gordon rescued Celtic in injury time with a fine reaction save from Ilkay Gundogan to ensure a share of the spoils.

Watched it early this morning & what a game. Tommy was superb .... again! playing in the #10 role of a 4231.

Brendan Rodgers was smart to have NOT left him out of the squad (as he did against Barcelona) & Rogic repaid the faith - claiming an assist in the 2nd goal, with a great run with ball and a perfectly weighted pass to Tierney who got the deflection into the back of the net.

Just wide of the post on a curling free kick around the wall as well, from just outside the 18.

Celtic dominated with their energy in the first half, and surprisingly wwith possesion against Guardiola.

Commentator mentioned something that reminded me of a similar comment made about the Mariners when playing in the ACL:

"Just one of Manchester Citys players yearly wage exceeds Celtic's entire wage bill ! "

Celtic eventually began to tire & ManC gained back the possesion stat. but 'The Bhoys' did great to hang on till the end.
- Cant wait for the return leg. :)

I didn`t see the game I`ve only read the above.
Can anyone shed light on why Rogic was substituted if he was playing so well?

Its become a bit of a 'norm', even pre- Brendan Rodgers to sub him between the 60-80 min mark.

Celtic were working very hard once City started to wrestleback the possession in the 2nd half.

Could Rogic have seen out the full 90 mins at the pace they were playing ??? only Tommy could answer that.

His replacements in the past have come on then scored a few times, so maybe Rodgers was going for the 3 pts instead of the draw ;)

Understand your point, tracked Mooy from an early age, but at 23 Mooy has just left St Mirren to come to the HAL for WSW. Whereas Tommy is starting for Celtic and looking more than like he belongs there playing against Man City. Love Mooy, but Tommy has a different trajectory I think.

I wanted him to move, but honestly hard to argue that this has not worked out well this year so far. He needs to be playing and showing what he's worth at the top level. And I think he is doing exactly that in these opportunities in the UCL and for the Socceroos. Future looks bright and be surprised if he doesn't leave Celtic after this season.

Caught up with a longtime mate of mine, Pat Tatum, who has been volunteering with CCM since Season 1 & he looks after the tunnel and our changeroom @ CC Stadium
- amongst a myriad of other things he does for the Mariners and he was telling me that he keeps in touch with quite a few of our 'conquerer's' from CCM.

Maty Ryan sent him a picture of his newly purchased Mercedes sports car, Patty told him that he totally deserved to own a car like that because "you worked your arse off to get where you are right now, don't worry about it & JUST ENJOY IT ! you earned it ! "

Couldn't agree more with the man!

Agree. Jock Football will toughen him right up. I'd then like him to have a season or two in the Championship and then step up to EPL (hopefully with Leeds lol).

So many want to tear down the achievements of others for tiny mistakes or personal gain I don't understand why we as a football community can't be happy for a successful player.

Anthony Kalik was not in the squad as Hajduk Split drew 0-0 away from home against Dinamo Zagreb.
